Well it looks like the Lake Chatuge lake levels have peaked for this year. The lake peaked back in May right around the 1925 elevation. We are currently as of 7/1/08 at the 1922.7 elevation. We never did make it to the full pool elevation of 1926 this year. I guess we should not complain to much. We are doing a lot better than last year. At this time last year we were at the 1920 mark. TVA has been trying to keep as much water as they can in the lakes. Thankfully they started filling them up earlier this year. The lake has been great this year. Not near as many boats and jet skies running around this year. I guess with the way gas prices are right now more people are dropping anchors in coves instead of just running around.     What ever type of Real Estate be it, Lake Chatuge Real E...

Lake Chatuge was perfect today. With the temperature in the low 70s had to remove a section of canvas on the boat today. Can't wait until we can take the camper top off the boat. The lake temperature is rising too. Actual saw some kids being pulled on a tube on the lake today.  Based on Chatuge operating guide we are still about 2 and 1/2 feet above where we should be at this time of year. If we keep getting the rain we may make it to full pool this year.Chuck Albury and Mountain Realty presents Mountain & Lake Cabins,  Homes, Land and Lots as a REALTOR in Young Harris,GA!

Lake Chatuge is up!  Lake Chatuge current level as of 4/3/08 is 1922.29. That is less than 3 1/2 feet below full pool of 1926.00. The current reading of 1922.29 is higher than we ever got last year. TVA has really been trying to keep as much water as they can in the lake. Based on Chatuge operating guide we are about 2 1/2 feet above where we should be at this time of year. If we keep getting the rain we may make it to full pool this year. Not only are the lake levels up but, the lake temperature is rising too. Water temps were between 55 & 59 the other day when I was out on the lake late in the afternoon.Chuck Albury and Mountain Realty presents Mountain & Lake Cabins,  Homes, Land and Lots as a REALTOR in Young Harris,GA!

North Georgia Real Estate    North Georgia real estate is moving, but, it is not moving like it did in the last several years. In 1996 CNN stated that a small town in the North Georgia Mountains, Hiawassee, Ga. would be one of the top ten retirement communities in the USA. This statement was made because of the natural beauty of the area. In Hiawassee, we have several amenities, Lake Chatuge, the Hiawassee River, the Georgia Mountain Fair and many festivals ... face it; our largest business is the tourist industry. We offer fishing, boating, hikeing, camping and a host of other outdoor activities As a result of the massive influx of visitors and potential home owners; the building industry exploded. Over the course of the last three years housing sales in Towns County has dropped 16 % p...

Hi there my name is Keith Kenner and I would like to share some information about the beautiful little town I live in; Hiawassee, Ga. When I moved to Hiawassee, Ga. in 1993 there were only three or four restaurants and two grocery store. The home building industry was moving at a normal and slow pace. Then in 1994 CNN made the statement that 'Hiawassee, Georgia' was slated to be one of the top ten retirement communities in the nation! The flood gates opened and the money and commerce was just gushing over the past several years. We now have between 10-15 restaurants and still have two grocery stores. Our population tripled and the housing market exploded. We have an abundance of new homes on the market and the market is expected to correct itself over the next year or so. The primary in...

There is a lot to be said for the anticipation of Spring time in Hiawassee, Ga. I have been living here in these beautiful mountains for 15 years. There are plenty of out doors things to do. For instance, if you are a boating type person there is Lake Chatuge, a 7,000 acre lake with 155 miles of shoreline that is almost evenly divided between North Carolina and Georgia. This is a great lake for boats that range in size from 25' and down. If you like to trout fish, there are myriads of mountain rivers, creeks and streams to fly fish in. My favorite hobby is getting on my motorcycle and riding it through the mountains. There is a lot to be said for the solace and serenity of the North Georgia Mountains; but , when you can incorporate a hobby with your job .... what a great thing! I have be...

I put this listing video together in hopes that I could help the general public to understand how important it is that they should use caution when listing their home. If you aren't careful you could delay the sale of your home by overpricing, choosing the wrong agent, or possibly putting the house up for sale before it is ready for sale. Greetings To All,My name is Debby McCluskey and I moved to the North Georgia Mountains about 10 years ago. My determination to have a life here out weighed my funds for a long time, but selling Real Estate gave me an opportunity to meet people from all outlooks on life plus see the beautiful places and homes this area has to offer. I had spent 11 years in Law Enforcement where the building contained the Sheriff's Office along with the Jail facility and Courtroom for First Appearance. It was enclosed with Razorwire and cameras. So after the kids left the nest, my husband Bill and I moved to Towns County and became Caretakers for a 30 acre Mountain Retreat for a Florida Couple that only came up two weeks out of the year. It was complete with a pond and lots of wildlife. That was a wonderf...
