What Kind Of Lake Is Lake Oconee? Lake Oconee in Georgia is a man made lake that was made by impounding the 2 rivers - Apalachee and Oconee River. The lake was impounded in 1979 by Georgia Power Company, and encompasses 19,050 acres with 374 miles of shoreline. The dam is a hydroelectric dam which generates electricity. On of the neat things about it is that they can reverse the trubines to back-pump the water back into Lake Oconee. Therefore, we have a very constatnt water level compared to other lakes, which have a big fluctuation if water levels. Since the water levels remain pretty constant, there is no need for floating docks at Lake Oconee. Georgia Power only allows the stationery wood docks, and no boat houses, unless the are grandfathered in as an original property owner from be... 04/03/2010

Bio Tech Park Possible In Putnam County Near Lake Oconee An 86 acre biotech park proposed near Lake Oconee could create up to 500 jobs and lure drug development startups and biotech manufacturers from the West Coast. Rock Eagle Science Technology Park, which could cost more than $150 million, is part of a 1,250 acre mixed-use development in Putnam County that includes a high school and will include housing and retail. The planned science park will be anchored by a Southern California-based company that makes diagnostic kits that help cailibrate medical equipment, said Ted Baker, manager of Georgia Fall Line Properties, LLC, the project's owner and developer. Home list prices are down approximately 11 percent for the last year. Anniversary Of The Iraq War Today marks the 7th anniversary of the beggining of the war in Iraq. Even if you do no agree with the politics of the war, there are still members of our military services still over there fighting for freedom and against oppression for those people. And, our service men and women deserve our thanks, support, and prayers. Especially their families that are anxiously waiting at home for their safe return. Fortunately, I have never had to face having a loved one across the world involved in a long ongoing war. But, I can empathize with their families, especially ones with small children, who may have never seen their Father for the first time.
