There are a myriad of changes happening with FHA, and they seems to suggest that the US government is pulling back from the business of housing and handing housing back to the free market.  Here are the changes scheduled to affect buyers using FHA starting in April 2012. The Upfront Premium will go up from 1.0% to 1.75%.  A three quarter percentage points increase is huge.  While FHA is continuing to allow borrowers to add this amount into their closing costs, there is concern that buyers will have to bring more cash to the table to close in the coming months.  And this change comes as we start to see some serious improvement in buyer activity.
