We've all heard about home staging and understand how it can improve the marketability of a home but what to do on an average sized and priced house with a seller who either does not want to invest in the costs of staging or does not see the need (i.e. "our orange shag carpet and brown plaid sofas are in pristine condition why would we want to change them?"). How many of you, as agents, really focus on networking with other agents? I don’t mean attending your office sales meeting either… I’m talking about attending the tradeshows, regional board events, social networking, advertising, and more for the purpose of getting to know other agents. I know some of you really get it and understand why it’s so important (and I’d love to get your comments so post them please) but I think there are others that haven’t really considered it and maybe even some that have but decided it wasn’t worth the effort. While European estate agents have been regularly utilizing floorplans in their marketing for years, the US is only just starting to come around. True, floorplans have always been used in new construction here in the US, but when it comes to a typical re-sale home, why have real estate agents forsaken the use of floorplans? It may be a mistake they soon learn to regret after hearing the results and benefits of the European example.  A recent study released by Rightmove, the UK's largest home search portal (similar to Realtor.com here in the US) showed that properties marketed with a floorplan actually generated 30% more buyer interest. The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival starts today. If you are anywhere in the Orlando, Winter Park area, you have got to check this out sometime in the next couple of days. There a lots of great local artists, and of course great food. There really is something for everyone at this annual event. I expect this year will probably be one of the biggest yet. They are celebrating 50 years of the festival. Come out and enjoy terrific weather, interesting art and artists, great food and a relaxing time. Winter Park Civic Center was the location of a Business Planning training today that was hosted by Waterstone Mortgage Corp./The Wellington Group, North American Title, and Florida Insurance Specialists.  In addition to the Business Planning portion of the workshop, they also had a PANEL of Top-Producing REALTORs that answered questions about their business successes. What was pretty interesting to me was the statistic that 70% of all New Year's Resolutions are abandoned by February 1st!  Yikes! Also, less than 10% of real estate agents have an actual, WRITTEN Business Plan.  I think that that number is high, though; my guess is around 5% or less have one.  While I already had a written business plan, it was still fairly ambiguous and I'm glad I attended the workshop b/c now my goals ar...
