The Lake and Sumter Counties Home Builder's Association Parade of Homes kicks off this weekend, Saturday February 21 with great deals on new, never lived in homes for sale. The great incentives being offered by builders, coupled with the new $8000 tax credit for first time buyers makes it an excellent time to buy.   The most recent sales statistics for Lake County, Florida, including the Tavares area, confirm what we all know, that buying a home is getting much more affordable. With home prices declining better deals are being had by those willing to go after them. October sales increased 5.5% over September and of the single family homes sold a whopping 69.8% were under $200,000! When you include homes up to $250,000 number jumps to 83.5% of all sales! It goes to show there are great deals happening out there when for the first time in many years cash sales outnumbered any other type of financing! Located at 12335 County Road 448 just on the shores of Lake Idamere sits a boundless playground and dog park. The 43-acre lakeside park was officially opened in December 2006. I only discovered this park during the summer of 2007 when a friend set up a play date for our children. I have to say I was impressed the first time I went and we have been back often. Last year when we first went there was an issue that the only restroom facilities were port-a-potties. I am happy to report I discovered restroom facilities had been added when we visited recently.
