We have been under a boil water alert since Tuesday in Satellite Beach and the surrounding areas from Pineda Causeway to Eau Gallie Causeway.  Apparently a fire hydrant replacement went awry and a water main “erupted” and contaminated the drinking water of about 12,000 homes and businesses.  The full story is here.    Personally this had been a huge hassle. On Tuesday when it first happened we had really low water pressure but no one knew why. I had been out at a friends house for dinner and was informed of the low pressure, when I got home, but we didn't know we had to boil the water. We thought we just had to wait a while getting water from the fridge or faucet.  Then we had no water at all. I got a text from my sister in law asking if we knew we were on a boil water alert. As many of you who read my blog posts know...I try to live a healthy lifestyle. I choose to eat well and workout as often as possible. This new series is about helping my fellow Realtors and friends do the same. I know many Realtors (really everyone) find it difficult to set aside the time to workout. This past week I showed a house on Tortoise Island.  Tortoise Island is located in Satellite Beach in the Banana River here in Brevard County.  It is an absolutely gorgeous, private island with most homes having a dock right in their back yard.The home that I was showing was vacant, so the Buyers and I made our way through the home out to the backyard where there is a screened in private pool that sits right on a lovely, quiet canal.                                                     As we walked out onto the pool deck I noticed that the skimmer lid was open.  As I walked past the open skimmer I looked down and got a real surprise.  There in the skimmer basket sat a very unhappy looking red eared slider tortoise.  He was a good sized boy and obviously had been cruising across the pool ... 02/16/2014

  If you read my restaurant reviews at all...you know I love Pizza. I am always searching the Space Coast for the best slice...and I can tell you...like any other area in the Country...we have our hits and misses. A N.Y. Pizza House in Satellite Beach, FL (they also have a Cocoa Beach location) is mostly a hit...with a little bit of a miss. I do have some high hopes for this place though. On the good side, the slices are large and the true NY style thin crust is very tasty. The overall flavor of the pizza is fine. Here was my issue...they used too much sauce on the pie. Now a good flavorful sauce is essential for a quality pizza...but if you overuse the sauce it makes the pizza (especially with a thin crust) a bit soggy (a pinch less basil would also help). As many of you know, I volunteer with the Sea Turtle Preservation Society here on the Space Coast.  Being able, even if in a small way, to help these magnificent animals has been wonderful for me.  One of the things that we work towards is to return sick or injured sea turtles back to the ocean whenever possible.  If you haven't been on one of our turtle walks during the nesting season, or even if you have, now's your chance!
