Santa Rosa Beach page added to www.BuyAFloridaVacationHome.com   Santa Rosa Beach History of Santa Rosa Beach Santa Rosa Beach sits in the beautiful Panhandle area in Northwest Florida, also called the "Emerald Coast", just fifteen miles from Destin. Santa Rosa Beach is one of south Walton County's oldest beachfront towns on Scenic Highway 30A and runs north past Highway 98. The town was named after Santa Rosa Plantation, which sat north from Highway 98 near Hogtown Bayou and flourished during the 1800s. Now, Santa Rosa Beach, with its sugar-white sand beaches, is one of the most beautiful coastlines in the country. When you arrive in the area of south Walton County and start seeing upscale Gulf-front condominiums and high-end shops, you will know that you have reached Santa Rosa Beach....

Okay, this is it!  Where did all of these people come from?  All of a sudden my local gym, the Grayton  Beach Fitness Center is packed!  I can hardly get around the equipment with so many people in there.  Who are these people anyway?  Okay, I get it.  These are the ones who committed to losing weight and getting in shape in 2009. My guess is that the gym will be all mine again by Superbowl Sunday?  Any wagers?   Group Exercise (Group-X) ScheduleMonday6:00am             RIDE: Indoor Cycling 8:30am             Yoga 9:30am             RIDE: Indoor Cycling 5:45pm             RIDE: Indoor Cycling  Tuesday 8:30am             CIRCUIT TRAINING6:00pm             Tai Chi   Wednesday 6:00am             RIDE: Indoor Cycling 8:30am             Yoga 10:30am            Tai Chi   Thursday 6:15am      ...

Not sure what type of weather you are having today, but here in the Sunshine State it is anything but Sunny.  This is off of my balcony just moments ago.   It won't last long, never does.  Probably be sunny tomorrow.  Although we are called the Sunshine State...according to USA Today that is not true. Q: Which states receive the most sunshine each year? A: While Florida proclaims itself "the Sunshine State," it might be more appropriately named the "partly cloudy" state. Five other states, Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas, catch more rays than Florida, according to the National Weather Service. It should be kept in mind that, despite the cloud cover that results from Florida's proximity to water, Florida's sunshine is very strong because the state is in the subtropics. ...

This perspective is not coming from someone who has just driven through the community, I have been an owner in the community for 2 years.  The community has grown and looks as great today as it did when my wife and I first purchased. Located at 59 Christian Drive, Santa Rosa Beach 32459 just 1 mile West of Co. Rd. 393, Church Street Village can be described as a coastal village, with heavy lush landscaping, and as many amenities as you will find in a family community.  Church Street Village was created by experienced and praised Huff Homes Development Group.  The community homes range from 1,230 sf- 2420 sf and prices that range from $214,900-$359,900!!!  But I guarantee that these prices would not be your first guess upon your entry to the community.  The price also includes a workout ...

I gased up today at my local Tom Thumb for just $1.64 a gallon.  As I was pumping up, I looked over at the BIG RED BOX.  Have you seen them yet?  It is a $1.00 DVD dispenser.  Can you believe it?  For just $1.00, I can now rent a movie for 24 hours.  What a great idea.  I guess these are showing up in other places too.  I wish I would have thought of this idea.  I know our local Blockbuster is already down to just one store in the heart of Destin and it would take me about 35 minutes in off season and over an hour in season just to rent a movie there.  I am not a member of NetFlix either.  NetFlix, move over.  The BIG RED BOX has arrived.  What do you think of this concept?  Do you have a BIG RED BOX? Call me before you buy your next home.  Santa Rosa Beach FL Homes For Sale Are you loo...

Yesterday I joined friends for a bike ride along Hwy. 30A.  What fun.  Highway 30A is a scenic 19 mile stretch of bike trails and old Florida atmosphere.  Height limits on Hwy. 30A are 50 feet and it is so nice not to have to worry about high density and high rises here.  It is very scenic with lots of coastal dune lakes and lazily follows the Gulf of Mexico in the Panhandle.  If you have never been here, you ought to make it a priority of places in the U.S. to visit.  It is breath taking. We stopped at the Red Bar in Grayton Beach first and had two Bud Lights there.  They had an afternoon bluegrass band in there and that was lively.  The place was packed for a Saturday afternoon.  Next stop was Rollie Poly in Seaside.  The beers there are much cheaper than at Bud and Alleys and you can...

I got to thinking about tithing and closing gifts at different points today. Thinking that I need to be more consistent with my donations even more so in this down economy. I was also thinking about some of the silly closing gifts I've purchased for clients that just bought a $700,000 property. I know that most people buying in that price range donate to one charity or another during the course of the year. Why not combine my tithe with a closing gift to my client? I've decided what I will do is take 10% of my commission check and split it with my client. 5% of that check will go to my church or charity of choice and 5% will go to that of my client. It seems like a win-win for both parties involved. I'll keep a running record here of the charities that we contribute to. I would love to ...

You may want to check out FIRE restaurant on Halloween.  Redd the singing bartender will be behind the bar in costume singing the Monster Mash and there will be prizes for best costume.  Redd is a local Hwy. 30A singer who is a lot of fun to hear if you have never heard her before.  I have enjoyed Redd on more than one occassion and she has a new CD out now that is terrific.  Hope you can come.  Of course if you do, I won't recognize you and vice versa, ha.

Home inspectors perform a critical function of providing expertise to keep homeowners safe. With the huge area of concern no one can be an expert on everything it has to be a partnership of industry and home inspectors to inform the public of potential risk and ways to mitigate that risk.  DeckLok are proud to be included in this partnership to inform the public of existing safety issues or possible safety concerns and provide cost effective solutions. The homeowner, has enough to worry about. Their deck should be a place for peace of mind for themselves, their family and their guests. A deck collapse comes with little, if any, warning. You may not have heard of these crippling, sometimes deadly deck failures because many are never reported to the media (see list of news reports in the ...

Molds are usually not a problem indoors, unless mold spores land on a wet or damp spot and begin growing. Molds have the potential to cause health problems. Molds produce allergens, irritants, and in some cases, potentially toxic substances. Allergic reactions to mold are common and include hay fever-type symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and skin rash. Molds can also cause asthma attacks in people with asthma who are allergic to mold. The most common health problems caused by indoor mold are allergy symptoms. Although other and more serious problems can occur, people exposed to mold commonly report problems such as: Nasal and sinus congestion Cough Wheeze/breathing difficulties Sore throat Skin and eye irritation Upper respiratory infections (including sinus) Are the ri...

Here are a few pictures of sunsets on Choctawhatchee Bay, from Driftwood Estates, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.  Amazing sunsets appear everyday, but today was special.  Hope you enjoy. Isn't that breathtaking?!  When you have scenery like this to work with, you don't need to be a great photographer. Can you think of any other planet you would prefer to live on? Just more reason to love Driftwood Estates, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and Choctawhatchee Bay

Hi, sunset in late July, from Driftwood Estates in Santa Rosa Beach, Walton County, Florida, across Choctawhatchee Bay, Mid-Bay bridge, Destin, Sandestin, Fort Walton Beach.  Sunsets are spectacular all year long, and change by the second.  Choctawhatchee Bay widens across the intracoastal waterway which goes from Pensacola all the way up the east coast to Virginia.  Barges and all sorts of pleasure watercraft are seen on the intracoastal.  Often, on Choctawhatchee Bay, sailboats are out and about.  There was hardly enough wind for them on the day of this picture.

The new County Road 30A development of Redfish Village has an interest in coasts far away from our Emerald one.Every Friday night through Aug. 30, the eight-acre development is holding a "Beach Villages of the World" celebration - whether it's Capri in Italy, Dingle in Ireland or July 11's salute to Goza in Japan. England, Spain, Germany, India and Greece are also on the schedule, with celebrations that will "recapture the culture of the selected village through music, food and beverages," according to Stuart Slicis, Redfish Village broker associate.Slicis told The Log that Redfish has 80 residential units: "It's a mixed-use project. The first floors of our buildings are commercial, with select merchants; upstairs ranges from 1,185 square foot two-bedroom units to 1,685 square foot thr...
