As I drove to the office today I had to take a detour to see to a client need first. I was driving north on Old Cutler Road and had looked forward to it as it’s my favorite, scenic drive in Miami.  Many parts of Old Cutler Road are framed with huge Oak trees, Banyan trees and so many others which create a wonderful canopy so you end up driving in the shade most of the time.  I love it.   I drove north through Palmetto Bay and into Pinecrest, headed north on SW 67th Avenue through the heart of Pinecrest, before heading west on SW 112 Street so I could get to Kendall.  As I drove through both Palmetto Bay and Pinecrest, I marveled at the gorgeous trees surrounding me.  Many of them so huge that I could not see the tops.  I thought about some of the newer communities, and even some old one... 08/13/2013

The home owners in the East Kendall area of Miami are seeing red over the proposed expansion of the Pinewood Acres School on SW 97th Avenue.  If you’ve been in the area at all lately, you’re sure to have seen one of these signs on someone’s lawn.   The newly formed East Kendall Homeowners Federation is at the helm of the signs and the opposition.  The main concern is the increased traffic.  The area already suffers from main avenues that look like “parking lots” during rush hours.  Adding an extra 1700 students to the community will surely make the problem worse.   If you want to learn more, or lend your support, visit the federation’s website at  http://ekhf.org/ 08/07/2013

Most folks have no idea what a Mamey is, so let me introduce you to one of the most delicious fruits I know.  The only place in the United States the Mamey (Mamey Sapote) is grown is in Miami-Dade County, it’s a tropical tree.  It is believed the seed was introduced to the U.S. by the Cubans in the 19th century.  This is a very large tree, about the size of a Magnolia tree; the fruit grows directly on the branches, no stems.  This is the only tree I know of where you can see three seasons’ growth on it at the same time.  The fruit takes more than a year to mature on the tree.  In September you can see the mature fruit ready for picking, immature fruit which won’t be ready for another year and the flowers which won’t be mature fruit for 2 more years.  I just took this picture showing the... 07/18/2013

Our sweet delicious juicy mangoes are ready.  As I was previewing properties in Pinecrest this week I drove by seven mango stands in front of private homes; and it was a weekday.  Folks put the mangoes on tables or in wagons for you to pick the ones you like, some even put out bags for you to put them in.  And if no one is at the stand when you get there you will find a container to leave your money in. Prices are all over the place, I saw a stand selling big beautiful mangoes for 40 cents each and then I saw a lady selling hers’ for $1.50 each – she must have some really special mangoes!    Did you know that there are several hundred varieties of mangos?  My favorite locally grown varieties are the Haden and Tommy Atkin.  I love mango milkshakes, like the ones they make in the Latin re... 06/07/2013

  The Village of Pinecrest is still working on having its own dog park.  Pinecrest is now considering buying the old horse farm property on the corner of 72nd Avenue and 96th Street to develop that land into a dog park.  I remember quite often pulling off the road to park and watch the horses graze there; the horses have been gone for a few years now and the land sits there empty.    Pinecrest parks are very nice, well-kept and are frequently used; the addition of a Dog Park to the Pinecrest park system I feel will be an asset to the community and a wonderful meeting place.         06/03/2013

Below is a seven-year history of key real estate statistics for the Pinecrest Florida real estate market, the market in which I specialize in.     People are buying; 217 listed single family homes sold in Pinecrest in 2012.  Homes are selling - they just have to be priced right for the location and condition.
