Get Ready for Summer Contest and find a Produce Stand!

Florida offers a bounty of produce in a climate that is warm all year long. One thing about the summer, a lot of my favorite “haunts” for citrus and tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and peppers close down. Without the demand of the snow birds coming in for fresh produce, these stands close until November. What to do, what to do. I like vine ripe produce and it took me forever to find out the secret of the tomato. The tomato needs to be vine ripened, not picked when it is green. Vine ripe tomatoes taste great and are so much better than their picked green cousins that end up on grocery shelves throughout the nation.
