Last month we finally moved my mom to South Florida to live with us. Which meant we needed to clean out 50 years of memories from my childhood home. Some of those memories were sad, some were funny, and some I just shook my head on (like 25 years of National Geographic's that she kept for an additional 31 years). Senior RoommatesAGrowing Trend!  While procrastinating about working this morning, I came across an interesting article in my email from the Florida Realtors, "Latest trend in senior housing: Roommates", which on further investigation I see it came from the article "Seniors seeking Roommates: 'Golden Girls,' Please Apply". They talk about seniors renting out empty rooms in their homes to help them make ends meet, while providing much needed companionship.Personally, I think this is a great idea if it helps keep seniors stay in their homes for a little longer. I can see where it would work easily here in South Florida where you own a home with extra rooms to spare.
