Cocoa FL Dining Brevard County Dining A friend and I headed out the other night to grab some dinner. We decided to head up to Historic Cocoa Village, located near Taylor Park, beside the Indian River Lagoon.  We felt like Thai food, so we thought that Thai Thai Village Sushi Bar would be a great choice. The place was full. The wait was a short 15 minutes, so we strolled across the street to the art gallery and admired the paintings of 5 different artists.  Since neither one of was a sushi eater, we opted against the fresh sushi bar. My neighbor, a competing real estate agent, dropped by this morning and brought me an article on seller financing from last June from the Washington Post. We had discussed the topic one afternoon this Fall. I have a property in Florida, a nice single family home in a sought after neighborhood in Brevard County, Florida. The house is worth almost nothing in comparison to what it was worth before. I learned first hand what it is like to try to sell real estate in Florida while dealing with my dad's estate. It seems like it is almost like a second great depression down there. An agent my father was close to suggested seller financing. Marla and I went to "Trop Stock" in Cocoa Village, Fl. on Sunday afternoon and although the 3 day event was starting to wind down there were still plenty of Parrot Heads left to enjoy the show. We missed the headliners Peter Mayer, lead guitarist for Jimmy Buffet and Nadirah Shakoor, a vocalist with Jimmy but the music was great anyway. It was the perfect thing to do on a lazy, sunny day. Marla even got to go "shopping" :-) Parrot Heads (Jimmy Buffet fans) listen to great music on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Riverfront Park. People never stopped dancing by the stage. Jim Morris and the Big Bamboo Band put on a great show. The Band was excellent. Speaking as a musician, I can truly say they were top notch. TropStock in the Village is the latest planned event for downtown Cocoa Village.  It will be held October 1-3, 2010 and it will be a great weekend of Tropical Rock, known as Trop-Rock. Downtown Cocoa Village has been the heart of the city of Cocoa since the late 1800s.  The city was founded by fisherman in 1860 and the first commercial building was built in 1880 when it was known as Indian River City.  The post office thought the name was too long for a postmark and eventually the name of Cocoa was adopted.  Cocoa Village is bordered by Highway 520 to the north and the Indian River to the east.  It is home to many shops, cafes, restaurants, a playhouse, marina, city hall and Riverfront Park.  The Village hosts events all year long which include Art Festivals, Oktoberfest and Mardi Gras ... 09/15/2010

  This weekend Cocoa Village in Brevard County will host the Mardi Gras.   There will be a street party tonight and a parade with floats.  The fun begins at 5:00tonight.  There will be bands , food and lots of drinks.  There will be a beauty pageant for kids.  This year they have tried to make the event more 'children' friendly than in years past.  There will be pet rescue groups, the Humane Society will be there and there will be street vendors, THis year there will be carnival rides. days of amusements. These photos are the Space Shuttle Discovery blasting off today as seen from Cocoa Village in Brevard County Florida.  We had a dilemma trying to decide where to view the space shuttle launch from.  Even though we have been watching launches since the early 1960's, we still get excited watching them today.  The space shuttle can be seen from most places in Brevard County, but today we were in a hurry.
