My parents moved from New York to Miami when he retired. My Mom didn't want to leave Greenwich Village as she was an artist and loved puttering around in the studios and working on her sculptures. When I got divorced and was a single parent, my Dad told me to give up my marketing job and "add years to my life" by living in Miami Beach, near them. It seemed tacky to me there. Lots of glitz and showy stuff. I liked the darkness of Manhattan and my ten black suits I wore almost every day to work. I liked teaching direct marketing at NYU at night and visiting the museums and my good friends.
