There's no need to trek more than 15 minutes from the Wilmington Amtrak Station to reach this bucolic setting in Greenville, Delaware. The James Armor House property once held a toll-keeper's house on the Lancaster Turnpike (possibly the earliest part of the house, c. 1800). If you were bringing wheat to the mills on Wilmington's Brandywine Creek or driving cattle to market from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to the north and west, this was an important route. They didn't have DELDOT back then to take care of the roads, so it was your toll that did the job. Now that this area is becoming so developed, many have had their eye on this property for its almost 2.5 acre size.
