Wow - August was a busy month for us! We just finished our fourth home staging project this month.  We have completed a 3 bedroom, 2 full and 2 half bath townhome in Fort Washington, 2 bungalow/cape cod's in Silver Spring and Takoma DC and single family house in Arlington, VA. This post will feature the work we completed on in the bungalow in Takoma DC - it was a bit of a departure from our usual more modern/contemporary staging but we feel we rose sufficiently to the challenge. Feel free to check out more work on our other blog.   Take a look at the space before we staged it...                below is how we worked own home staging magic to give the space life and possibility!       The piano pictures were a last minute ad, but seem to work really well in this house!      We enjoyed ...

Even though many of the staging and home selling shows illustrate the positive aspect use of colors in selling homes, I rarely find that realtors and homeowners leave color on the wall while selling a home.  So I was excited to be able to finally stage a home in rooms full of color! Thanks to my very active realtor/client in the DC market. I only staged the dining room, living room and small back porch and was able to use the color to the homes advantage.                               I believe the colors help to give the home an overall personality, even more than just using the furniture and accents. Selling homes with colored walls is not always a no-no, but sellers must be careful to use colors that are easily accepted by buyers!  If the large mass retailers are using colors when se...

ops...we did it again!  We turned another drab and boring beige on beige space to life!  This time, the massive fireplace sort of overtook the space, even though everything was the same drab beige color.  So we infused color to give it life and function, in a recently remodeled single family home in NW DC.  Take a look for yourself!   Before   After - with color and life!         See how much just a bit of color carefully placed can really bring a room to life!  Staging brings rooms and homes to life!  If you are in the DC area, ask us how to bring YOUR properties to life!

Do most real estate agents suffer from house envy now and then?  Or are we immune after a while?  We get to see a lot of magnificent homes.  Most of the time I feel inspired by a great place.  I don't ever recall wanting to live in one of them. But how about a certain type of house?  A certain feel of house? Yes, there has been a longing, and it never left me.  Because in the end so much comes down to emotions in real estate, and in the end it's always somehow about our past. When I went to attend the annual Historic Takoma House and Garden Tour yesterday, it really hit home (no pun intended). The very first place I had all to myself some twenty-some years ago was a squat in a turn-of-the century apartment building in East Berlin, Germany.  The landlord had abandoned it because the comm...
