Compo Beach rules say:"NO ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED BEYOND THIS POINT FROM APRIL 1ST - SEPT 30TH." In the meantime, there's still time for a friendly run. The strength of the Staples High School soccer program was on display, yesterday, as the boy's team chalked up an easy win over West Haven, in the opener of the CIAC LL (extra large school) State Championship.  The team scored their first goal, fifteen minutes into play, followed by a second goal, only seconds later.  At the end of the first half, Staples led 3-0, which held as a final score.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  The team will move on to the second round as they defend their 2009 State Championship.  Last week's win in the FCIAC was their 3rd consecutive ... 11/10/2010

Rountree Integrated Solar Home, Westport, Ct.  John Rountree's Solar home in Westport, Ct. has been able to combine today's building technology with the charm and character of a 1910 Westport farm house. The house has a fully integrated roof solar system that provides most of his electricity and hot water. The Schuco "Synergy Roof" system combines Photo Voltaic (PV) and solar water heating along with a solar thermal recovery all in one design. What a Gorgeous Monday today at Longshore in Westport!   It was an absolutely gorgeous day here in CT today!    I was at Longshore Club in Westport CT at 8 am playing tennis with friends on their beautiful Har - Tru courts.  Afterwards, I looked around, and decided it was time for a quick video.            Longshore Club has tennis courts, golf, sailing, a driving range, a swimming pool, and a fabulous 4 star restaurant.    I have captured a little of it in my video.                   It is a beautiful club for the town, and, also, for an additional fee, outsiders.    The golf course is a fairly level, fun course, not extremely challenging for a scratch golfer, but certainly excellent for the normal player like myself.                                  What an absolutely gorgeous day it ... 06/21/2010

Westport, CT - Not All New Constructions are McMansions - Some are Castles! Saturday, May 15th, turned out to be a picture perfect day for the 9th Annual Castles in the Sand, at Compo Beach, in Westport, CT.  The sun was shining and temps were in the 70's, as participants competed, to create the best sand sculpture.   Masterpieces could be constructed on "Big" building lots of 10' by 10', selling for $100 or "Really Big" lots, 20' by 20', going for $300.  The competition is an annual fundraiser for Homes with Hope.  The organization was originally founded in 1984, as the Interfaith Housing Association of Westport and Weston.  Homes for Hopes provides food, emergency shelter, affordable housing and social services to homeless men, women and families, in the community.   Of course, not al... 05/15/2010

The other day, as I pulled into my office parking lot, two thoughts struck me.  First, for a change, I was not looking at a lot filled with SUV's. Second, the car color of choice was clearly silver.  A few minutes on the computer, confirmed at least one of my astute, if extremely belated, observations.  According to PPG Industries, a leader in automotive coatings, silver has indeed been the most popular car color choice, for the past nine years.
