Once again it is our pleasure to feature the work of another local artist on our "Wallingford Inspires..." art wall, Alyssa Davison. Alyssa is a life-long Wallingford resident and a high school student in the Wallingford Education Enhancement Program. Alyssa's art is as unique and bold as she is, and she creates it in a rather unorthodox way. "Digital art is my favorite medium, and I create all my art on an iPhone app called Medibang Paint," she says. "My work is an extension of my emotions, or a scene I daydreamed while listening to music. Each new piece I do adds to my skills to be used in future work." We'd say her skills are doing just fine.As we do with all our artists, we are holding an art open house for Alyssa so everyone can see her beautiful artwork. Read on for details…When:...

For as long as I've lived in Wallingford, and for many years prior to my arrival, the town has marked the Independence Day holiday with a spectacular fireworks display that draws thousands, residents and non-residents alike. In 2009, the town stopped funding the fireworks but found funds for them from savings on a town insurance policy. Beginning the following year, however, funding for the annual event was again eliminated from the town budget, this time for good. Thanks to the heroic efforts of Jason Zandri and a group of volunteers, funds were raised from private sources to ensure that the holiday spectacle would continue. They have successfully raised the funds each year, allowing the citizenry to enjoy a long-standing family tradition of coming together in civic pride and community...

A number of my friends have been into model trains for a long time, and I have gotten to see a few of their set ups.  After seeing the different model trains each of them have, and the way they have set them up, it is easy to see why they are hooked on them.  So I am looking forward to going tomorrow to the Model Train Show AT Sheehan High School In Wallingford, CT On April 3, to see some more Model Train displays. One of the nicer Model Train setups I have seen is one a friend of mine has circling his back yard through a bunch of tunnels and over bridges.  Another friend has one which runs along a track he built close to the ceiling in his office building and circles the office from room to room.It is the type of hobby that can really capture the imagination of people of all ages. I hop...

2015 Annual Agent Awards Announced at Harriman Real EstateIt seems like it was just yesterday that I was writing this post announcing the 2014 annual agent awards, but here it is a year later and things have only gotten better for us here at Harriman Real Estate: we began our Heroes Home Advantage rebate program which gave back over $37,000 to our local heroes; we added several more amazing agents to our growing family; overall performance was up by more than a whopping 70%; and we again honored our community by featuring six more local artists on our “Wallingford Inspires” art wall. All in all it was a year to remember, and we owe it all to the most amazing group of agents anyone could ask for. It’s an honor to work with them, and it is our great pleasure to recognize the best of the b...

If you look out a window or at a thermometer, you'd never guess it was just 4 days til Christmas! No snow on the ground and temps in the 50's and 60's might be a normal for the South or maybe California, but in New England it's a rarity and a gift we all appreciate. Another gift we're thankful for today is the addition of yet another agent to our growing real estate family, Rick Rocco! Rick has only been a REALTOR® for about a year, but we are very impressed by his work ethic and desire to learn, and we're excited to have him join us. Prior to starting his career in real estate, Rick was a church pastor for 20 years and studied at Gulf Shore Bible College. Rick moved to Wallingford four years ago with his wife of 34 years, Lisa, and love it here. They have a foster son, Taylem, who is 3...
