Largest Monthly Home Sale Percentage Increase in 5 Years Reported by NAR  According to RISMEDIA, Sales of existing homes on the West Coast rose to their highest level in over a year.  RISMEDIA  reported that  there were even more across the board optimistic indicators from Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist who said gains in home sales are being reported in more markets -- "The sales turnaround which began in California several months ago is broadening now to Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri and Rhode Island," he said. "The South was hampered by much lower home sales in Houston in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike." For the 3rd year in a row Milford Connecticut has been named one of the nations top 100 Best Communities for Young People to live. In Wednesday's New Haven Register, Milford's Mayor James L. "Walk a mile in my shoes" took on a special meaning this weekend in Milford, CT. where over 250 men and boys stepped outside their comfort zone and fashion boundaries to participate in Milford's second annual "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" march to bring attention to violence against women.  This avant-garde group bravely (and painfully) walked around the Milford Green wearing everything from stilettos to fuzzy slippers.  Some even took it a step further and donned female attire to complete their ensemble.  This is a national event designed to bring attention and raise money for various organizations who offer assistance to women who are victims of violence.   Last year in Milford, this event raised over $15,000 to help run the Milford Rape Crisis Center according to Peggy Pisano, the cente...

Milford, CT - Milford receives  grant for help with home repairsThe state of Connecticut, via the federal government has awarded $750,000 in grants to Milford to help families who qualify receive money for home repairs.   The repairs must be either deficiencies or code-required.   This money is available to home owners at no interest and with deferred payment loans. Residents will not have to pay back the money until they sell their home. These funds will become available July 1, 2008 and anyone who would like more information should call Thomas Ives coordinator for the Housing and Urban Development Community Block Grant at 783-3230.
