Thats a giant Meatball!  By George!  I took my daughter recently out for dinner and we visited her favorite place, George's in Unionville Ct.  It is located at the intersection of rt 177 and rt4.  The menu has a splendid variety of italian, greek and traditional favorites.  My daughters loves the shells and meatball for dinner.  I ordered a lamb gyro that night, which was served in a warm pita and accompanied by a thick cup of tzatziki sauce, which is one of my favoirtes. Just a quick post to let everyone know about one of my favorite restaurants.  It is Joey Garlic's in Farmington Ct.  They also have other locations in Ct such as Rocky Hill and Canton, but this one is the best since it's in my town. Pictured here is the cheeseburger, a mouth watering slab of hand ground beef that is to die for!  It is so delicate that it melt in your mouth.  Another favorite of mine is the Goat Cheese Salad.  It is a mountain of salad greens with a round of toasted goat cheese sprinkled with chopped pistachios and honey.  IT is a delicious flavor combination and so good! My friends have ordered (and loved) all of their pizzas, the Philly Cheese Steak and their infamous Eggplant Fries, which is served with a "snowing" of parmesan cheese and mariniara sauce for dipping.  ... 01/08/2011

  This image is of a small oil spill in my neighborhood that my daughter and I found one day while out for a walk.  We live in the Lake Garda area in Farmington Ct, where homes are perched on hills overlooking a wonderful lake.  There are often cars parked on the street on one of the roads that we walk on, one of them has left this oill spill  What beautiful colors and pattern it makes.  It resembles a sunburst or a glowing ball of fire perhaps.  How can something so nasty (oil) leave such a pretty and impressionable image on the ground?   Once a month, Paula, a Librarian at the Farmington Library, arranges to have her dog, Tucker, come in. He is a wonderful Therapy Dog who is gentle and fun.  Children can sign up and read stories to him for a block of 15 minutes.  Tucker is trained to lay on his blanket until the book has been read.  After the story is over, Tucker performs tricks such as saying "I Love You", rolling over and balancing a treat on his nose until Paula says "ok" where he then flips it off and eats it. You can bring your own story or read from the selection that Paula has chosen, which is usually about the current season or holiday.  Check out the library site here.         One of my favorite holiday traditions is to visit Vermont for their annual Holiday Inn Tours.  Selected Inn's are tastefully decorated for the holidays and scattered through out Manchester Vermont.  It is a wonderful way to get in the spirit of things and to get away and do a little shopping. We stayed at the Inn at Manchester, which is a beautiful home owned by Innkeepers Frank and Julie Hanes.  They are a wonderful and accomodating couple who cooked the most delicious Sunday Breakfast ever.  Thanks Inn at Manchester for a lovely time. The even happens for only two weekends in the beginning of December.  If you are in the area or in New England, I would suggest checking it out as it has given me lasting memories and some good pictures for my annual Holiday card.   12/29/2010

    According to www.zillow.com, here are the latest  home values for Farmington.  The town has suffered a decrease in value (year over year), according to Zillow, which has been typical for the present market.   The Average list price for homes in Farmington is $339,900, which is down by 2.9% over the year.  The average sales price is $328900 according to zillow.com.   25.5% of homes in Farmington sold at a loss since last Dec and 72.8% sold for a gain for the same time period. 11/22/2010

The Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington Ct is one of the most beautiful places to go and spend a few hours.  Built in 1901, it houses famous pieces of art from the masters Monet, Manet, Cassat and Whistler..to name a few.  It also has the loveliest grounds around-from rolling meadows to formal a formal english garden. As you can imagine, it is a wonderful spot for picture taking, both casual and posed.  I often take my daughter there and take pictures in the gardens.  It is impeccably maintained and the Hill-Stead holds events here such as the famous "Sunken Garden Poetry Festival", a summer farmer's market as well as numerous catered events.
