3 Diamonds in the Rough ~ Homes for Sale, Darien, Connecticut. You can either buy a new house or buy a used house. Buyers tend to want to buy a used house that is new, they go in and start looking for items wrong with the house and miss the big picture. With a background of over twenty-five years experience in home renovations, remodeling and new construction I understand what it takes to buy a fixer upper.  Below are what I consider 3 Diamonds in the Rough located in Darien, Ct. that need a range of TLC from simple interior painting and floor refinishing to major renovations and additions.  Darien, Connecticut is about 50 miles east of New York City on the coast of Connecticut. It is a 55 minute train ride to NYC with easy access to I-95 and the Merritt Parkway.  3 Diamonds in the Roug...

Wanted to share in this post an incredible time in my life... My lifelong dream and purpose is  finally coming to fruition in a few weeks if everything continues to go as well as it has been. We are finalizing funding of sustainable manufacturing project in both Canada and US that would employ 300 Aboriginal and Native Americans on tribal reservations in it's first phase. We will be saving trees and replacing plastic with our first two products that will revolutionize the building market... Imaging a sustainable home that gets insulating factor of over R-40 for wall, R-60 for ceilings!! Here is the latest article that came out in Indian Country Today if you'd like to read more... http://www.indiancountrytoday.com/archive/Green-collar-work-99848819.html

This just happened to a client of ours and I thought it might be a good topic to write about. Beware of companies working 'too closely' with each other, I call them 'THE MOLD MAFIA', and the recommended remediator lists! If you have ever spoken to me about getting your home tested for mold, one of the first things I teach my clients is toBEWARE of Mold testing companies that Test AND Remediate!!!  Huge conflicts of interests...like having a home inspector who also owns a roofing company...it's where the monkey business in this industry sometimes unfortunately occurs. So, now what? Are you on your own to go and interview MORE companies to FIX the mold?? We offer our clients a 'remediation company referral list' of anywhere from 6-12 companies we have delt with and have done our due dilig...

Gardening in Connecticut, August harvest. It has been a hot summer in Connecticut and with that comes a bountiful harvest out of our organic garden of vegetables and cut flowers. Now in August we get to reap the benefits multiple times. Fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, beets and carrots just to name a few. Of course to go along with our delicious vegetables we have the Herb garden full of basil, sage, chives, parsley, rosemary and even some hot peppers. A planned flower garden is wonderful because it provides cut flower from Spring, through Summer and into the early Fall. Some of the favorites here in Connecticut are Blackeye Susan's, Daisy's, Echinacea,  Delphiniums, Lily's, Dalia's, Hollyhock's, phlox, sunflowers just to name a few. Another benifit of having a garden is that is it a great d...

Post Corner Pizza in Darien, CT     is a wonderful local casual place to go for a simple dinner with the kids or just with friends! Post Corner Pizza Restaurant is located on the corner of the Boston Post Road and Route 124 in Darien, CT.     There are several parking lots nearby, one behind the restaurant, and parking on the street in front.    Directly across the street is the Darien Volunteer Firehouse, so you can imagine the excitement when there is a fire siren that goes off.  All eyes are on the firehouse, watching the firemen inside readying the fire engines to go.    When they finally go, all kids are "eyes glued."   I must admit that I also am watching all of the excitement inside that building.   Enough about where it is.....    The menu is part Greek, part Italian, and a lot ...

More and more often, I am passing ‘for sale' signs that have a rider with a vanity domain plastered on it and I think to myself, it's finally catching on! Single-property sites are powerful, cost-effective tools to promote property listings both online and offline and for a long time I think they've been an overlooked resource that Realtors® haven't fully taken advantage of. Back in February 2007, Joel Burslem wrote a post about single-property sites on the future of real estate marketing blog. Since then a number of providers have joined the single-property site arena - AgencyLogic, SPS, ListingDomains.com, VFlyer, and Postlets to name a few. All the sites have the same general features allowing for you to create 123anywhere.com - adding photo tours, lengthy descriptions, branding info...
