PROJECT RECESS RESCUE CHILDREN'S COMMITTEE CROMWELL, CT WWW.PROJECTRESCESSRESCUE.COM Last week when I went to the annual "Shop-Til-You-Drop" at the Cromwell Intermediate School, there were some parents there informing the public about the need for playground equipment. At present both elementary schools, Edna C. Stevens and Woodside Intermediate Schools, have NO means of a playscape for children to play on (ONLY A MONKEY BAR.. OF SOME FORM)... they have a blacktop only.  Did you know, they are not permitted to run either?  So, let me ask parents out there... how do these children let off steam, to continue their day at school? This is where we need to come into play...pun intended.  Project Recess Rescue Children's Committee, is comprised of parents in Cromwell, CT, and are dedicated to...

Today, Sunday, my sons are to finish their homework before they go back to school tomorrow.  Both mentioned on Wednesday (which was a half day due to the holiday) that they had everything they needed.  No surprise here my oldest son mentioned he forgot something in his locker.. this happens frequently.  Being a Sunday, and a holiday weekend I thought for sure that the middle school would NOT be open. But I figured why not try... nothing to loose.  As it turned out the "Handicap" button worked for the outside door and the inside door was open.  We tried to go to his locker, but all the lights were out, and of course my flashlight was dead.  At least I now know to get batteries in it before I show another home. I've lived in Cromwell CT for quite some time now.... and feel I have been an ...

I have been told that gas prices have been coming down... which I have seen too.  Connecticut though as one of the highest state tax on gas, that seeing prices as low as other parts in the country seem very unlikely.. until today. Here in Cromwell, CT at the Mobil Station on the corner of Route 3 and Route 372 made history today.  I was passing by, and did a double take, and also a U-Turn to take a picture of this.  The woman was literally in the middle of changing the price from $2.09 to.. ready for this... $1.99 a gallon for a cash sale.   Yes, Virginia there is a santa claus. We haven't seen these prices in years. If you are wondering.. NO I did not get gas.. I just filled up yesterday for $2.09.  Figures.  But even at $2.09, I'm NOT COMPLAINING.   Let's here it for Cromwell, CT and ...

Cromwell, CT might not be a small town compared to some others here in Connecticut.. or for that matter in New England.  However, this town still has the small town charm.  In real estate, we all try to help one another.  But I don't think enough recognition is given out to the restaurants in the area.  This blog is to do just that.  Everyone (and companies alike) are finding the economy tough.  Ruby Tuesdays here is Cromwell is probably no exception, but they went out of their way on election day, and I want to send out a special THANK YOU  to them.  In another blog I mentioned that I worked at the high school the day of the elections.. there was a total of 23 of us.  Right around lunch time, there was a delivery from Ruby Tuesday's.. just baked cookies.  They went out of their way to ...

As most of you know, I worked at the polls yesterday from 5 in the morning to 8 last night at the high school here in town.  It was wonderful to see so many people turn out to vote. It isn't who you voted for, but that you came out to support your candidate that matters. Before the polls opened, there was a line out the door and around the building.  When the doors opened up we were very busy.  In the first hour alone, there were 810 people that came out to show their support.  What most don't realize is that the town of Cromwell, CT has a little over 9,000 voters.  That means nearly 10% came out first thing in the morning.  There was a steady stream all day, and I wanted to take a moment to say "Thank you" to the town, and everyone that came out to vote.  Pat yourself on the back GREAT...

In Connecticut, and I'm sure through the northeast as well, many people like going to farmer's market for *fresh* produce. At local farmer markets you can not only get fresh produce, but produce that is organic.  Did you know that local farmers are becoming competition for the larger farmers throughout the country?  We all assume that local farmers foods cost more, but not necessarily. Why?  These farmers do NOT have to spend a lot on gas, which jacks up the price.  Most of our food here in Connecticut comes from the midwest, and obviously needs to be shipped here.  Who are they going to pass the cost onto, but the consummer.  So, if you are interested in supporting the *local* farmers in your area you might want to check out the website www.localharvest.org.  Below are a few of the loc...

I've been a part of ActiveRain for about 7 months now, and I just love being able to find out new information on what is going on in real estate.  During these seven months I have met a lot of people and enjoy reading and commenting on their blogs. It is these Activerain members I wish to thank today.  Without them I would not have been able to achieve the landmark of 100,000 points.  It was Donna Bigda that sent me an email and brought it to my attention last night.  I probably would not have taken heed on this for a day or so. ActiveRain has been a great resource for me, it has spawned 3 clients.. of which 2 have closed on homes in the last 2 months.. the third I am still working with. I've had a ball these months and look forward to reading more blogs, and meeting people here on Ac...

This coming weekend, weather permitting, I will be working at a neighbor tag sale.  I've been told by the woman running it that there will be 6 to 8 families there selling their wares.  Maybe someone is going to sell items with the idea of selling their home down the pike.. you don't know.  When I heard about this, I decided to partake.. this way I can also (hopefully) sell things I don't need or have ever used.  There are so many things I have that are NEW in the box.. go figure.  Anyway, I'm diverting. I thought this would be a good opportunity to meet new people and mingle with them and have it be in a less stressful environment.. such as an office.  The people working at the tag sale and ones coming by will see how I present myself and how I work with people.  So if they are looking...
