If I had to pick the question that I am asked most, it would be an easy choice "what do you think the rates are going to do?"  I get asked this question almost every time I do a loan at the point when the Borrower has to make the decision whether to lock the rate or float it. My answer to this question is simple "if I new what the rates were going to do, I would be on a very warm sunny beach, without a care in the world".  If I could predict whether the rates were going to go up or down, I would be a very, very wealthy man. My second response to this question is "that what ever I tell them that I think the rates are going to do, they will most likely do the opposite".  I have been wrong so many times about what direction the rates will go in, that it is not even funny.  You would think ...

"We are writing to advise you about a change being made to your account." This prologue is a part of letters being sent to millions of U.S consumers and sets an ominous tone for the remainder of the communication. The "change" being referred to is either your credit card account has been closed or the credit limit has been severely slashed. In this particular example, the credit limit was lowered on a Barclay's Bank credit card by $15,000.In normal economic times a credit card issuer would only take such adverse action against one of their cardholders if they've done something wrong, such as miss a payment. However millions upon millions of cardholders are seeing their terms changed because of seemingly innocuous actions such as "a change in spending patterns" or "inactivity." I guess w...

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH CROMWELL HILLS, CROMWELL CT When living in a condo community today, not many people seem to get out and do things together.  No one *really* knows all their neighbors, and few venture out to say hello as people walk by.  After traveling all over the country, I find that New England *tends* to be this way. Cromwell Hills condominum complex, in Cromwell CT is trying to change all of this.  They have formed a neighborhood block watch.  Unit owners have volunteered their time to walk with others to make sure the community is safe.  There is no set schedule for this, and is left up to the volunteers to schedule their time.  Not only is this a smart move for security purposes, but with this, they will learn who their neighbors are, and who does not belong. If you live in Cr...
