Windsor, CO Real Estate News

In Windsor there were 14 new listings. I think I like the idea of looking in Windsor only instead of including Johnstown and Berthoud. The more properties that we try to cover the less time there is to look at the pictures and see what we do or do not like about a property. I am also finding that by looking at just one city at a time, I get a better feeling for what the activity level is. Do know that you can contact us to find out more about any of our areas in Northern Colorado!

Fort Collins Sales Stats for July 2008, Looks like Fort Collins is one of the best markets in the country right now.  As many struggle Fort Collins seems to be on the fringe of becoming a Seller Market!  (under 6 months of Absorption)

http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2008/top100/  I was recently shocked when i heard that my Home Town of Fort Collins Colorado did not win as the Number 1 place to live in the country.  Even more shocking was we had been beat by Plymouth MN.  Having spent a summer in MN i was pretty shocked to think a place where mosquito's are the size of bird and the Humidity is 120% (not to even bring into the equation where the heck are the MN mountains?) Fort Collins Colorado is the Number 1 place to live in the country.  Lets just look at a few stats to support my Re-count demand. "Of course, this being Minnesota, winter can be brutal: January's average low temperature is about 13°F. But when the mercury plummets, the locals get busy. In February the city hosts a Fire & Ice Festival t...

This weekend I was able to visit with several of my homeowners that lost their homes in the tornado and how things were going for them.  Now keep in mind these people lost about everything and my guess is that they are still in some shock.  However the news is uplifting.  They are all pleased with the way they are being serviced by their insurance.  They have all been relocated or at least have found a place.  They have money in their pockets and new beds, bedding, some clothing and food.  They are putting things together piece by piece.  One young lady told me she had to get rid of all her children's toys.  The insurance said that the amount of debris and flying insulations, asbestos and etc made the items unsafe.  The same was true for her towels, clothing, furniture and anything tha...

The clean up here has been inspiring and amazing.  What a place to call home!  My daughter Hannah and I went out the other day and just started to clean where needed, the next thing we knew we were joined by other volunteers.  It was an amazing experience.  We over filled a 20 yard dumpster in 30 minutes!  A great experience.  Once it was full we all walked to another area and started again. As to the lives of the victims is still stressful.  There is need for men's and children clothing (Women always seem to have clothing to share).  Diapers, formula, toys and the like are still needed as well.  The biggest task in this area is getting the farmers back in the fields.  Before this can happen the fields need to be walked shoulder to shoulder and the debris picked up.  Many groups are goi...

The tragic events of 5/22 in the quaint town of Windsor, Colorado left countless familes without a home, without power, but not without hope.  Volunteers from within the local community, as well as from neighboring communities were out in full force to assist those familes left victimized by this terrible storm.  The sense of community is so awesome, as large groups gathered as teams and went from home to home to clear yards and streets of the piles of debris left behind.  There are volunteers providing food services, free daycare and handling donations to help in this time of need.  The sense of a caring community is overwhelming and heartfelt.  It's so nice to know that people really do care, and when others' lives come to a hault, there is hope for a new beginning.  God Bless to all ...

Day by day, hour by hour we take great leaps towards getting our community back.  Again today those affected by the devastation of the tornado in Windsor Colorado and those who are wanting to help meet and clean.  The streets are passable and the debris is leaving the yards.  Roofs are covered, windows are boarded up and electricity is coming back.  The best news I can share it that spirits are still high and all sharing the same goal. Look for pictures in the future days.

Wow, what an amazing day.  Yesterday was the first day homeowners that were hit hard by the tornado in Windsor, Colorado were able to get to their homes and assess the damage.  Once they had time to see what their home was like it was time to call in the community to help; and help Windsor did!  From noon until 6:00 at night (curfew still in place) we worked.  We cleaned yards, found boxes, loaded boxes, covered what we could, secured homes and moved people.  You see the pictures on television but they are just that, it isn't until you are there with the debris, your friends and family that you understand the magnitude.  It will be months and possibly years before our community is whole again.  As Windsor recovers I will share the path so maybe if this happens in your town or city you w...

Yesterday my family and I spent the day helping families who have been displaced by the tornado in Windsor Colorado.  Now I am looking to my professional network to help answer many questions.  If you can help I would love to hear from you. Are the homes that are fixed and not condemned hurt at resale? What if you disagree with the assessment of your home.  Can a homeowner bring in an engineer and dispute the insurance adjusters opinion? Any idea on time frame for repairs?  102 homes are destroyed and the remainder are to be repaired? How does the disaster affect the market place for those homes already listed? How much say does a homeowner have on choosing the contractor? Does anyone know the standard proceedure for working with the insurance company? I know this just the beginning of ...

Airport plans developing, an article from The Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald, reports that the airport steering committee is working with the Federal Aviation Administration to hammer out a deal regarding a Martin Lind proposal for development at and around the airport.  The airport steering committee consists of the mayors and city managers of Loveland and Fort Collins.  Martin Lind, president and developer of Water Valley in Windsor said, "What we are talking about is opening the airport up for business.  We love this downtown NoCo area, and I would really like this airport to come to life."  Lind has proposed building another fixed-based operator, the fuel station for an airport, at the airport in northeast Loveland.  He would also like to develop more aviation-related businesses aro...
