I spent the day showing mountain properties, always one of my favorite things to do, and what was a grey, drizzly day down in town turned into a winter landscape as soon as we gained a bit of altitude - up to around 8700 feet - and the temperature went from the low 60's to the mid 30's. So, there I was in my own little world, taking outside photos of my new listing, when the neighbor said hello. We had briefly met before, but didn’t recognize each other, so reintroduced ourselves. She sells real estate too, and of course, we starting talking.  She invited me over to see her cabin (which, by the way, is adorable).  When I was leaving, she walked outside with me and said “quick get a picture”- and there, about 30 (?) feet away was a bobcat.  I had seconds- no time to focus, or zoom in, I raised the camera that was hanging around my neck and clicked the button before the cat disappeared on the other side of the shed.  I have never seen a bobcat before, and I wouldn’t have seen this one if it wasn’t for Noreen pointing him out!Thank you Noreen – and I hope we find a good n... 09/05/2017

"Hide and Seek" with a MooseFirst of all, I would never get out of the car and "seek"  a moose- they can be canterkerous and are best  left alone.  This time of year the cows might have calves and they are especially dangerous when protecting their young.Yesterday, I was driving down Pipsissewa, in the Village of Red Feather and spotted a huge bull moose!It was raining, but I had to stop and try to get a photo.Then he moved behind a small tree....trying to hide?"I can still see you!"....He knew I was there, I just wanted to see those beautiful antlers!  Come on Moose- "come out, come out wherever you are" He moved further into the trees. It was a busy day, I had several things left to do- and really no time to spend waiting for Mr. Moose to give me a break....and thenFinally!   I'm so excited about The Village Emporium, a new business“Coming Soon” to Red Feather. In "downtown" Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, on Main Street,  is a little building between the Post office and the Trading Post, formerly known as the Village Antiques. The owner is retiring after many years of operating Village Antiques.  She said that someone used to jokingly refer to the store as the “Never Open”- (which is particularly funny to locals who know about the “Ever Open Café” in nearby Fort Collins); but the store’s limited hours brought excitement when the door was open and inventory was always changing hands. The Crystal Lakes real estate market is doing quite well! 2014 brought new neighbors to 44 homes in Crystal Lakes. That's 10 more home sales than in 2013, or an increase of 29%. The Median and average prices for 2014 are up: Median 2014: $222, 500 - 2013: $175,000 Average 2014: $228,712- 2013: $186,348 Average days on market are down. Listings in 2014 sold for an average of 96% of list price Presently, there are 37 homes on the market, with 3 other under contract. Absorbtion rate= 10.09 indicating it's still a buyers market, but in this mostly recreational/second home market it doesn't feel that way!   Inventory is low and we need more listings!
