Do the summer days sometimes seem to go by to quick. I noticed the back to school specials and it never dawned on me that summer was going to be coming to an end until I heard that the Palisade Peach festival is this weekend. That means that the harvest is in full swing and I can count on some great peaches and ice cream, along with some Big Band music and Dancing in the streets tonight in Palisade Colorado. Kids will be back in school and fall will be upon us here very soon. Now it is time to ask yourself did I get everything I wanted to get done this summer, or do I have a carry over list for next year. I Love this time of year for looking back on the summer and planning for my winter activities. It seems that this time of year gives us a chance to slow down for a few days and catch u...

I did not chose Real Estate, Real Estate choose me. As a child I liked to build houses, I loved Lincoln Logs. I made elaborate two story homes with, out buildings and horse barns. I had a huge dollhouse that my father made it was a replica of a Victorian house from the early 1800's. It had gingerbread and had a 5-color paint job. It was my dream home. My mother picked out furniture in the genre and helped me place the furniture in the proper rooms. I would get pieces of furniture for my birthday, Christmas and as prizes.   Every summer we would leave to go to a cooler location. We always rented. Every summer we had a different house. We always went to a resort town and mostly stayed on the water. I loved the old rambling Victorians the best. There were so many places to hide and to expl...

If the Great American Beer Fest isn’t your style, perhaps Palisade has something a bit more to your flavor with the Colorado Mountain Winefest this weekend (Sept 16th – 19th) in Riverbend Park, Palisade.  The charming little town is worth a visit even without the allure of the festival.  It boasts a plethora of local wineries and grows some of the best peaches in the world (one of which is my dessert for tonight.. plus the glass of wine pictured at right.. perfection!). Must See Palisade Attractions Palisade Cafe and Grill – Delicious meals. Slice O’Life Bakery – Pastries (especially of the peach variety!) Red Rose Cafe – Italian, American and Vietnamese Food (quite the mixture!) Tapestry Lounge – Tapas and light dining. Wine Country Inn – New lodging that is worth a visit. Dreamcatcher...

Historic homes are the most rewarding property you could possibly renovate. Have you ever watched This Old House, and drooled at the final result when the house was finished? Did you fantasize over finding hidden gold in a 1800's oldie goldie? I did! I bought our first renovation without my husband seeing it. He thought I was crazy and I was throwing away our money!  Our first home was a Cracker Cabin in the pan handle of Florida. It was on 40 acres. We put lots of sweat equity in that place. We pushed down an old out building and paneled the kitchen with the barn wood. We fixed and painted and we learned everything the hard way. It was a very difficult for two inexperienced city slickers to figure things out but we did. It was hard work but we doubled our money! After the cabin our sec...
