Very often, we get telephone calls from people who are relocating to the Fort Collins area, but want to live in the mountains. They are calling from their Out-of-State Home while searching on the Internet for housing. This is a really difficult way to search for properties, when you're not familiar with the area!  Finally, they will give in, make the telephone call and ask the question:  "How far is it?" Because I commuted to Fort Collins for nearly 13 years, I think I'm the perfect candidate to answer that question!  If you want to live in the mountains, particularly in Glacier View Meadows, you are about 45 or 50 minutes away, an easy commute to "central" Fort Collins.   You're about one CD away. Put in your favorite CD and drive 55 MPH down the county road, through the beautiful Live...

Don't ask me about cows -I have a cowboy hat, but I don't know beans about cows. Like most people, I know about milk, beef, leather...and I know that every June the cows move from the low pasture to the high pasture.  I know, after 13 years of commuting to the city, my office thought that a cattle drive was about the best excuse they had ever heard of for being late! It happened yesterday! The first cattle drive of the year! I first saw them on the road near my house Yesterday  was cool, cloudy and drizzling rain and they mooooooove sooooooo slowly! Who says happy cows are from California? The cows move about 3 miles per hour It's a long day for the cattle drivers and of course, I ran into them again on my way to work, I took this through the windshield. It looks like a lot of work to k...

It's a spectacular mountain day in Glacier View Meadows!   It's 78 degrees today,  with the exception of a few small patches of snow in some areas, there are tiny signs up Spring popping up all over the hillside. Here are a few signs of Spring from my walk today. (There was even a Bee on one of the tiny flowers)    These little pink flowers would be easy to miss. It looks like soon the Honeysuckle will be in Bloom and the Mountain Mahogany is starting to bud Our dog decided it would be a good day to wade in the water I think she's grinning! The best find of the day was the Purple Pasque Flower a sure sign that Spring is here! There are no big beautiful displays yet...these tiny little signs are out there, I just had to go on a walk and find them! I hope you found some tiny treasures in ...

In between Ted's Place and the Forks Restaurant on U.S. Hwy. 287 is Haystack Rock. Haystack Rock is a huge boulder, sitting on the west side of the highway.  I used to drive past this rock everyday when I worked in Fort Collins,  always curious if someone had come in the night, and left a new message on the rock. This huge boulder is a local landmark & has turned into a very large message board.  People have painted birthday greetings, hearts with names, and even an invitation to the prom on this rock. Imagine being the young girl on the school bus, as it passes by this huge message board, and seeing your invitation to the prom there!  Locals wondered for weeks...did she say "yes"?   A beautiful American Flag adorned the rock for months after 9/11, no one would paint over the flag. The ...

They are out there! ...did you think I was talking about buyers??!! Yes! There are buyers out there finding great deals, after all it is a buyer's market. But this post is not about buyers, it is about mountain lions ~ and they are out there too! One February day several years ago, I was looking out the window.  To my surprise, walking down the road, just like he owned the place, was a huge mountain lion!  I ran to get the binoculars! I couldn't believe my eyes!   I watched the lion continue down the road and disappear into the trees across the lake.  According to the Department of Wildlife these big cats can be found almost anywhere in Colorado where a "suitable population of deer exists." Most people will never see a lion, because they are rather secretive, seeing ONE once was spectac...
