South Platte Park & Carson Nature Center - Littleton, CO  Recently on a Sunday evening, (Memorial Day weekend to be exact) my family and I decided to head to a nearby locale for a family nature stroll before having dinner.  We decided to head to the South Platte Park in Littleton, just off of Mineral Avenue, west of Santa Fe Drive.  Somewhat tucked-away behind the Aspen Grove Lifestyle Center & accessible also from the Mineral Light Rail Station - it is just one of those places that you sometimes miss but once you know of, you keep coming back.  Very popular for bike riding and nature walks, South Platte Park is home to 878 acres along the South Platte River and also includes 5 lakes with great fishing.  On this particular stroll, we enjoyed seeing firsthand how high the South Platte R...

Old Littleton, Colorado - The Old Town Hall = Town Hall Arts Center I recently was downtown in Old Littleton taking photos.  I was meant to be there quickly, just taking some pictures to use for my real estate blog to describe this wonderful little downtown on Main Street.  I walked over to the Old Town Hall building which is now the Town Hall Arts Center. One thing that blogging about my community has really done is help notice the small stuff, really see Denver & the surrounding areas through a new set of eyes.  I have walked past this building at least 100 times.  I have attended performances here.  I have eaten lunch across the street.  My son even recently was here for a field trip to see the play Charlotte's Web.  But until I really stopped to take a picture I have to admit I didn...

Littleton Downtown - Historic Main Street in Downtown Littleton, Colorado   Its no secret that so much of the front range is new development, built on the ranch land that once was here.  But there are places, special places, that still give us a glimpse to the past and the history of Old Colorado lives on.  One of those places is downtown Littleton.     Historic Littleton, Colorado The history of downtown Littleton stems from the Gold Rush at Pikes Peak in 1859.  As settlers began to begin farming in the Denver area, there was quickly a need to transport water from the nearby rivers.  The Little Family settled in present day Littleton, just off of present Sate Fe Drive, and began making plans for a water system to supply the water needs of the area.  The Little Family began to farm in t...

Living in Colorado: A New Ice Arena Many of you know how much time my family spends at ice arenas.  For quite some time now, I have heard rumors and mumblings about a new ice arena to be built in the Highlands Ranch/Littleton area.  And even in the past year or so, I have met a few people that claimed to know that it was a done deal, it was happening and they were even involved in it somehow. I always meant to inquire and find out more, but it wasn't until I drove by this area in South Park in Littleton that I knew without a doubt that a new area ice arena was finally taking shape.  My kids now want to drive by it several times a week to check the progress.  I really don't know more about The Ice Ranch than what is on the web site.  The sign at the site says it will be opening in the Fa...

Colorado Events in Littleton  The Littleton Historic Museum is a great family destination that I visited often when my own children were very young.  The museum is located in historic Old Littleton, very close to downtown Littleton.  Now that our weekends are filled with sporting events of all kinds, we haven't been back in a while.  This upcoming event is one we are putting on the calendar with hopes of attending.  If you have recently moved to the Denver area or are relocating to Littleton, Colorado, I recommend checking it out.  If you are unable to make it, check out the museum another day, you won't be disappointed and you will learn more than you ever thought you could about the history of Littleton. The Plowing and Planting Day at the Littleton Historic Museumis on Saturday, May ...
