I was showing property yesterday and had the thought that I am so fortunate to be able to work with some of the most wonderful, interesting people.  My customer recently completed his 300th ascent of Long's Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park, and is the former Long's Peak ranger.  He has some amazing stories to tell and is in the process of writing a book about his experiences. He is an accomplished trumpet player and also has a rather wicked sense of humor... After living in Park Service housing for years, I have the privilege of helping him purchase his first home.  That's the very best part of this business! For more information about Rocky Mountain National Park, visit: www.nps.gov/ROMO/ and enoy the photo of "Jim's Mountain".

Greetings from Estes Park! I thought I would share some beginning of fall leaves...as I watch them blow off the aspen trees this morning.  It's a little breezy here, so when the leaves fall off the trees, they all go together! I've had a great time learning about blogging and sharing photos, I appreciate all the kind comments I have received.  This is a wonderful on-line real estate community!  (Any advice from some of you pros would be greatly appreciated...)

Greetings from Estes Park! We had the most gorgeous sunset last evening, I just had to share it with you!  This photograph was shot looking west toward Mummy Range and Rocky Mountain National Park from our backyard. Have a great weekend!

We have unique conditions that make stunning rainbows here in Estes Park, when we have rain clouds directly overhead and either morning or evening sun coming in horizontally underneath. The Stanley Hotel is one of my favorite places in Estes Park, and when I saw the rainbow conditions happening, I dropped the boys off at school, skipped the Monday morning sales meeting (don't tell) and followed it around for an hour or so. The only challenge was to shoot around everyone else on the front lawn of the Stanley trying to get the same incredible scene!

We are having a multitude of wildlife guests as the weather turns colder in the high country. Our backyard elevation is about 8000 feet above sea level on the edge of National Forest property, so we see bunnies, bears, deer, elk, bobcats, mountain lions and of course, our favorite friends, the chipmunks.  I shot the most amazing video footage of a bobcat lounging about last week. it is a wonderful experience to live in harmony with these beautiful animals. I've always been interested in photography, but once I became a Realtor and had a digital SLR with me to shoot listings, I've had a lot more opportunities to shoot some pretty incredible scenery and wildlife here in Estes Park. I had the chance to attend a Photoshop seminar in Las Vegas in September, and one of our instructors, who is...

It's a gorgeous fall day here in Estes Park!  We're looking forward to one of the most fun local events of the season...Trick or Treating!  Due to our mountainous terrain, we close off the downtown streets, and the "kids" go from shop to shop to collect their goodies.  If you have the chance, plan to come up to Estes for a little Halloween fun. (it would be a great time to spend a night in the haunted Stanley Hotel...)  I just returned from the Colorado Association of Realtors annual convention at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.  What a fantastic experience!  I had the opportunity to spend the day with Verl Workman, who is an amazing realtor technology coach.  I am so anxious to implement what I learned for my customers, some of the new technology is really exciting! Photograph...

I recently attended a mortgage broker panel featuring many (if not all) of the local mortgage brokers here in Estes Park. Panelists included Sarah Walsh of First Home Mortgage, Rich Flanery of The Mortgage Center, Harriette Woodard of Estes Park Mortgages, Jose Santana of Blue Diamond Mortgage, Susan Raso of First City Mortgage Group, and Tim Ortiz of Home Financial . It was a very informative discussion about how buyers are being affected by the recent national credit market upheavel. Check out my blog post to hear about some of the general topics covered about getting a loan in Estes Park.

The market is changing - even in Estes Park. Foreclosures, Short Sales, and Bank Owned Property are all becoming more and more prevalent in todays real estate market. Although Estes Park is not affected as much as many markets across the nation, these distressed properties may create a unique buying opportunity. The first step to getting a good deal when purchasing distressed property is understanding the different stages a property can be in. Check out my blog for more information about Distressed Properties in Estes Park.

The current market statistics for Estes Park are showing some very interesting numbers describing how the market is reacting to the National credit crunch crises and the rest of the economy.   The National mortgage market credit crunch is having some interesting effects on real estate across the nation. In Estes Park, we are enjoying a market that has not been effected much at all. The median price of single family homes continues to rise. Only time will tell what the long term effects will be. Please visit my blog for more information and statistics about Estes Park Real Estate.

I'm an escapee from Overland Park, Kansas (Kansas City).  It took me 50 years to escape, and when I did, I fulfilled my dream of living in Colorado. Now working as a Prudential real estate agent in Estes Park, I had no idea "retirement" was going to be like this!  If you too, want to escape to Colorado, contact me and we'll talk.  You've much to learn.  As a friend of mine said, "Learn from the mistakes of others - you don't have enough time to make them all yourself."  As I said, "There will always be more money - it's time we're running out of."

Well, here I am again, sitting in an Open House.  Unfortunately it’s slow enough that I have time to reflect…   Swung by the office to pick up some supplies on my way to the open house and parked right out front was a van with a large bumper sticker.  Now, I’m not a bumper sticker kind of person, and years ago when I gave it a try, I ended up fighting the stickers to remove them, so I haven’t done any since.  I think I could make an exception for this one.  It said:“THOSE WHO ABANDON THEIR DREAMS - WILL DISCOURAGE YOURS”  Isn’t that something?!  Have you ever dissected the word: DIS-COURAGE?  Pretty obvious when I take it apart that way, isn’t it?  To lose or remove courage.  Much, maybe most of our lives are severely impacted by fear – or lack of courage.    Try to become aware of how ...
