VAIL VALLEY DAILY PHOTO: CRAZY SKY On the way home the other evening I noticed a cloud formation highlighted by the setting sun that looked suspiciously like the beginning of a tornado funnel.  The lowering tip of the funnel glowed like it was a neon light.  There has never been a tornado reported in the Colorado mountains that I have ever heard of and the weather was way too cool for tornatdo development.   Instead, it must have been Virgo - something we do see a lot of here.  The way I understand it, Virgo is a rainstorm that that never happens as it evaporates before it gets to the ground.  This cloud was very near the ground however.  Very unusual.                                                                                                                        PHOTO:  NILSSON ...

The Edwards Interfaith Chapel and Community Center is special for many reasons, depending on who is using it that moment. Currently it is hosting a middle school, weddings, celebrations of life, AA, classes for the deaf, several major non-profit events and 6 churches of every faith and language.  It is a diverse, bustling heart of the Edwards community. On March 17th it will host the best of Opera Arias by performers from New York and San Francisco, and dinner will be served by David Walford of Splendido. There will be some very special and unique auction items: Rare books showing and discussion led by national expert Helmut Fricker and Fr. Vail, Colorado Daily Photo - Maybe a Little More Pain Before We Put the Place on the Market? I wonder if the rancher who built this home up East Lake Creek Road back in the early 1900's had any idea his house would be surrounded by $5,000,000 to $15,000,000 gentleman ranches a hundred years later?  It's nice that reminders of our past still exist in the Vail Valley.  A scene like this kind of slows the frenetic pace of life for a bit - at least long enough to capture this image of the past. Brrrrrrrrr…. It’s been cold in Colorado!  But that hasn’t stopped me from going for numerous winter walks with the doggies, and my visiting parents.  As my parents were preparing for their visit last weekend, I told them to pack warm clothes as it’s going to be full-on winter in the mountains. They did, and we were able to spend a good amount of time outside despite the cold temps, wind and snow.  The dogs love it, and so do I.  Winter walks are so refreshing.  I love the way the winter air makes my cheeks rosy.  And I love the warmth of my house when I return from a brisk walk. Nothing like warming up by the fire place after a cold winter walk!
