Yesterday I was showing in Castle Pines, and thought I would drive down Daniel's Gate Road, and it was virtually empty at least for a while.    It was a beautiful clear day with the mountains so clear!Then I came upon a whole flock(?) of wild turkeys.   We don't see them often here, but have in the Pinery in Parker and now in Castle Pines.    These birds were so beautiful, with their colors so vibrant.   I wish I would have done a close-up shot, but there were cars behind me, waiting for them to cross the road!Thinking they are not aware Thanksgiving is just around the corner!   🤪

                                        We have hummingbirds - LOTS of hummingbirds!  Conservatively, we estimate that we are feeding about 100 different birds.   Sometimes, it's like a fierce air-to-air battle with a dozen or more hummingbirds buzzing around fighting for a space at the "trough".  Although, since we put out 2 feeders, each with 8 feeding holes, I would think there is plenty of room.  But I guess, sometimes, two quarts just doesn't seem like enough for one of those tiny little guys!  :-)   They're pretty amazing little birds and are the only birds that can hover and fly backwards.  It's also said that because of their extremely high metabolism, they are always just a few hours away from starvation.  But yet, when they migrate, they can cross 500 miles of open water in th...
