A retail district, like Boulder, Colorado's Table Mesa Shopping Center, can often be said to be the heart of a successful neighborhood. A thriving shopping center brings additional revenue to a neighborhood, makes the area more desirable, and subsequently raises real estate values.   On the flip side, a rundown retail district can cause a serious drain on a neighborhood by making it seem less desirable, less convenient, and less safe. As a result, many residents who can afford to will move away, and the property values in the neighborhood will decline (or at the very least, fail to increase normally over time).   Thankfully, the latter is not the case with the Table Mesa Shopping Center in Boulder, Colorado. This retail district is a perfect example of how a successful shopping center c...

Boulder Co Real EstateBoulder Colorado has often been called the "Berkeley of the Rockies." While it may seem like that from the outside, with liberal bumper stickers and young, hipsters lining the streets, the homes and neighborhoods of Boulder are really quite conservative.  Whether your Boulder real estate will be your primary residence or used only as investment property, you'll be glad to hear that property in Boulder has appreciated 5% or more each year since 1988. Many years since 1979 show appreciation significantly greater than 5% in Boulder.  While the average price for a single-family home in Boulder is $400,000, there are plenty of homes available in the low $100,000 all the way into the millions. According to most real estate market reports of the area, houses are on the ma...

The Daily Camera launched a completely redesigned website on Monday and it looks fantastic.  The choice of colors is a little unusual, but helps it stand out from other bland and boring news sites on the web.  Kudos to the Daily Camera on their new site.If you're planning to relocate to Boulder, add the Daily Camera to your list of sites to visit regularly.  It has great local coverage, interactive features, and is widely read in Boulder. I like the high resolution slide shows.   They're reaching the quality of what you might find from the New York Times.    Here's a slideshow of this year's Boulder's Naked Pumpkin Run,  a community arts project.     Here's another (without audio) of the Munchkin Masquerade on the Pearl Street Mall and here's more audio slide shows from the Daily Camera...

As per Craig's request on my Listmania blog.  Drumroll Please!!! THE TOP 6 ½ REASONS TO STAGE  #1 Staging gives the best first impression to potential buyers. Stagers strive to provide an ambiance that emotionally connects buyers to your home. A good stager will have researched the current trends in the market as well as the buyer demographics in the local area. If your demographic is mid thirties couples with 1.2 children, then that is the target style they will use. However, if your area attracts mainly baby boomers seeking a second home for vacationing a different style is called for. A professional stager will provide furnishings and accessories that appeal to broadest range of your buyer demographic. #2 Staging neutralizes your home so that buyers feel relaxed and comfortable while...

I was all set to write about Boulder, Colorado for the local hometown topic: Home of my alma mater CU, boasting over 300 restaurants, more used book stores per capita than any other US city, 30 art galleries, 4 museums, a wonderful farmer’s market, the fabulous brand new 29th Street Mall, not to mention the 300 sunny days a year….. Of course everyone knows about the skiing, climbing, kayacking, snowshoeing, paragliding, cycling side of Boulder, but I wanted to showcase the wonderfully diverse tapestry that makes Boulder truly unique.  But I’m not gonna!……   Because it snowed!  Almost 2 feet in fact! My husband & I took a snow day, (since we couldn’t get our car up the drive), and it was our 1/2 mile snowshoe hike into "town" that gently reminded me that I don’t actually live in Boulder;...
