I am so excited to be hosting an open house right in the heart of downtown Boulder this Sunday.  I remember when I first visited Boulder, I fell instantly in love with Pearl Street, with its vibrant restaurant and shopping scene.  This fantastic home is just blocks from the famed Pearl Street pedestrian mall, a large section of Pearl Street which is dedicated to walkers only (sans dogs, unfortunately).   In the spring, the city plants thousands of multi-colored tulips along the mall, creating an urban photographer's dream. So, here's your opportunity to live in the heart of it all.  395 Pearl Street, Boulder, is a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom contemporary townhome-style condo.  Rarities in this downtown location, it has a double garage and large fenced yard! It's a comfortable home, with inte...

Even Boulder Finds It Isn't Easy Going Green BOULDER, Colo.—This spring, city contractors will fan out across this well-to-do college town to unscrew light bulbs in thousands of homes and replace them with more energy-efficient models, at taxpayer expense. City officials never dreamed they'd have to play nanny when they set out in 2006 to make Boulder a role model in the fight against global warming. The cause seemed like a natural fit in a place where residents tend to be politically liberal and passionate about the great outdoors. Boulder Restaurant Review - Suki Thai I went to Suki Thai for the first time yesterday for lunch. It was great! Suki Thai is conveniently located just off of Highway 36 at Baseline. The restaurant was very clean. This is a fast Thai restaurant where you order from the counter. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. I decided to order their new Thai Tacos with pork cooked in a red sauce. They were excellent. They were served on a soft corn tortilla with veggies, Mexican cheese, and crema flavored with coconut. They have a condiment bar where you can put cilantro, green onions, hot sauce and more on your food to taste. Suki Thai has a punch card where you get $5 off after nine punches. I got one since I plan to go back frequently. I'm looking forward to trying the Phad Thai an...

Best Towns to Live In USA Today just reported that Boulder, Colorado has the happiest and healthiest people in the United States.  No wonder I can keep up with everyone as they pass me on the running trail.  The results are based off of the Gallup-Healthways Well-being Index.  It seems that many of the Western areas did well in the study.  It also helped to have a major University of Government installation.  With the University of Colorado and the National Labs of NIST,  NOAH, and NCAR Boulder, CO has several factors that help to insulate it economy. Boulder, CO is also considered the Health food epicenter as well as being the Silicon Valley of Alternative Energy.  Two industries that are attracting today's best and brightest.

According to a study by Elliot F. Eisenberg "Among the nearly 2.4 million households that bought a home for the first time, the average age of the householder was 33 years old"  This is a very interesting stat to look at when we lay it up against the birth rate in United States: 1945 2,858,000 20.4  1950 3,632,000 24.1 19523 3,913,000 25.1 19533 3,965,000 25.1 19543 4,078,000 25.3 1955 4,104,000 25.0 19563 4,218,000 25.2 19573 4,308,000 25.3 19583 4,255,000 24.5 19593 4,295,000 24.3 19603 4,257,850 23.7 19613 4,268,326 23.3 19623 4,167,362 22.4 19633 4,098,020 21.7 19643 4,027,490 21.0 19653 3,760,358 19.4 19663 3,606,274 18.4 19674 3,520,959 17.8 19683 3,501,564 17.5 19693 3,600,206 17.8 19703 3,731,386 18.4 19713 3,555,970 17.2 1972 3,258,411 15.6 1973 3,136,965 14.9 1974 3,159,958 14...

A Special Boulder Colorado Monday Morning Mountain Motivation Photograph As many of you may know I am forever inspired and motivated by the beautiful mountains views here in Boulder Colorado. I am constantly amazed at the different views I observe at various times of day and location as I move about the area. I try to keep my camera with me all the time because I am never sure exactly what I may see. The photograph below, staged as it may be, is extra special. This is my son Sean posing reluctantly in front of the Flatiron range. Sean is 14 years old and doesn’t like to have his picture taken. He is a playful boy, cheerful most of the time and forever curious about the world around him. I love him dearly and I am very proud to be his father. So this morning’s motivational photograph is...

Colorado Monday Morning Motivation: The Cup is Half Full Here is a photo I took of the early morning sky over the Front Range in Boulder Colorado. The cloud patterns here can sometimes change quickly with the high wind currents coming in over the mountains. It’s inspiring to look up and see the beauty of nature so vibrant, so dynamic and so alive. It reminds me that I, too, am a part of it all. My life is also vibrant, dynamic and alive. And the winds of change are constantly blowing and rearranging things. In the present moment light of awareness I remind myself not to resist what is. Go with the flow and enjoy life, in joy...and if ever you have trouble remembering that the cup is always--in all ways--half full, just look up…  Happy Monday Everyone…I hope your day and your week are su...

Boulder Valley Schools Making a Difference Boulder Valley's Horizon K Thru 8 Charter School has decided to hold a bake sale on Friday, January 22, 2010 to raise funds for the country of Haiti to assist with it's recent earthquake disaster. The bake sale is the master mind of a 4th/5th grade class who looked at this as an opportunity to not just watch, but take action and truly be part of the solution. Horizons has a tradition and cultural of integrating world affairs into the lives and education of the students, and as a result many times the student body is inspired to be involved in an event, even before the faculty has decided on a path.  A strong community-directed school, Horizons K-8 holds a yearly educational block called "Making a Difference" where the students brainstorm, creat...

Colorado Monday Morning Mountain Motivation, 11 January 2009 I love living here in Colorado. Whenever I need a little inspiration or if I am not feeling as motivated as I would like to be, all I have to do is look up at the mountains and take it in. Here are a couple of photos that capture a little piece of that. This morning’s photos were taken at two different times over the past month. The first photo shows El Dorado middle school in Superior which is just a couple of miles south of Boulder. Not a bad playground view, huh!     The second photo looks just to the right of the previous one. The colors in the sky were amazing that day. Of course, a photo could never do justice to the real thing. The whole sky was lit up like this. I guess you could call it a Kodak moment.     If you or s...

Boulder Colorado Monday Morning Mountain Motivation, 4 January 2010 Good morning and welcome to the beautiful mountain views of Boulder Colorado. We’ve had snow on the ground since a couple of days before Christmas and the temperatures have mostly been below freezing so everything is still under a white blanket. The first photograph was taken from the Davidson Mesa Open Space on the Southeast side of town (Northwest edge of Louisville). The view in the photograph looks directly west across South Boulder at the Flatirons. Chautauqua Park is slightly to the right of the middle of the photograph. The next two photographs were taken from Chautauqua Park on the West side of town. I was standing in the open space directly in front the larger Flatiron when I took them. The first photograph loo...

A Final Look at 2009 From Boulder Colorado   These are my last photographs of 2009 taken from opposite sides of Boulder Valley. The first view is looking up at Long’s Peak which is 14,259 feet above sea level. It’s the largest peak in the area and can be seen from many angles all around Denver Metro. Downtown Boulder is in the foreground. The second photograph was taken from a vista point overlooking the downtown area of Boulder just off of Baseline Road about halfway to Lost Gulch.   Farewell 2009 and Hello 2010 Happy New Year       If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about eco-friendly homes, I can help.
