2022 Wavecrest Woodie Meet in EncinitasSeptember 16, 17 and 18 The world’s longest running woodie festival takes place September 16th through the 18th in Encinitas. This is the 43rd event! The Wavecrest Woodie Meet kicks off Thursday evening with the last Encinitas Classic Car Night for 2022. Friday night is the Welcome Party at 5 pm at the host hotel, the Best Western. The hotel is a short distance from Moonlight Beach. This is a “No Host Taco Truck,” with beer, wine, and other beverages available. Saturday is the big Woodie meet with around 200 Woodies on display in the parking lot above the beach from 8 am until 2 pm. Encinitas Classic Car Nights 2022~ Final Event  ~I suspect many classic car buffs and non-aficionados alike love the Encinitas Cruise Nights on the 3rd Thursday each month from May through September.  This is an annual series each summer. Several local car clubs will have their vehicles parked for all to admire! 2022 Carlsbad Oktoberfest is October 1 The 40th annual Carlsbad Oktoberfest is Saturday, October 1! Carlsbad’s popular annual Oktoberfest Family Fall Festival, for years traditionally taking place the 1st Saturday in October, will be held at the Carlsbad Strawberry Company. The San Diego County Recorder’s Office is now offering a new, free service that will help anyone owning property in the county protect the title to their properties. When you sign up for the Recording Notification Service you will be notified by email whenever a document is recorded that is attached to your name and Assessor Parcel Number (APN). So, for instance, if a contractor working on your kitchen remodel files a Mechanic’s Lien, or the IRS files a lien for back taxes, you would be notified. Squirrels Love Our Carlsbad Beaches, Too! We see a lot of ground squirrels in our area, especially living on a canyon in Carlsbad. We don't enjoy the damage they can do to the garden but their antics can be entertaining. But the squirrels love the Carlsbad beaches, too, although I suspect it’s not the views they appreciate. The bluffs are easy to dig in, which makes for easy, and abundant house-building along the beach – no permits needed, and the squirrels can thumb their noses at the California Coastal Commission and the City of Carlsbad Building Department's regulations on what can be done along the bluffs. And there are plenty of plants that thrive at the beach that provide seeds and other delicacies the squirrels enjoy year-round. But the squirrels know that beaches mean plenty of ...
