Holiday Decorating California Desert Style Way back in 2012 we spent New Year's Eve with a good friend who has a place in the Palm Desert area (Bermuda Dunes). We were taking a walk through the neighborhood to enjoy the holiday decorations before Happy Hour and saw this one home that had several cactus that were festively decorated desert style. It looks like a type of agave but I am certainly no expert...but I thought the ornaments at the tips of the leaves (or are they branches?) were pretty cool. This decorated cactus had a beautiful backdrop of bougainvillea.   12/12/2024

Our La Quinta weather is dreamy most of the year.  Really.  Our winters are warm and mild and we have sunshine when the rest of the country is piled with snow.  We play golf in shorts in January.  That's why so many people spend the "season" here and leave their frigid midwest, or Pacific northwest homes behind.  The summer here is hot and like most years we have a "last blast" of heat in late September or October before the fall weather settles in.  Last week we had record breaking temps at 108° + and of course, I'm taking advantage and swimming my daily laps.  I don't mind the heat- in fact I really love the hot desert days and balmy nights.  Fall will arrive soon enough... Here are some Helpful tips to Avoid Termite infestation!I just recently had a listing in Menifee that had active infestation of termites in the attic.  Home is 2100 sf., built in 1994.  Tenting cost was $3,700.  If you would like to be pro-active, and try to keep the termites away from your home ONE of the first things you should do is Regularly check for signs of termites in, and around the home, and Eliminate all food sources.  Did you know that termites like moisture, and standing water like mosquitoes?Its true!  I would recommend that you make sure to eliminate all sources of standing water.
