I was reading the Sunday Business & Wall Street Journal and came across an article written by Gregory J. Wilcox titled "Million Dollar home to be prize in raffle"I am thinking to myself now that is out of the box thinking!  With all the recent headlines concentrating on mortgage meltdown, record foreclosure rates, etc.. it was refreshing to find at the bottom of this page a story about Shawn Evenhaim who chose to be creative in selling one of the homes he owns by holding a raffle.  Shawn takes it a step further and is donating the proceeds of the raffle to the school Kadima Hebrew Academy in which he is school president.I learned according to the article that this is the first sale of it's kind in the San Fernando valley.  The raffle winner can either take ownership of the house or rece...

I have just finished reading a short post in the real estate section of the San Fernando Valley Business Journal, which talks about home sales in this area. This article entitled, “Home Sales Continue to Slide, Prices Still Rising,” states that sales of single-family homes in the San Fernando Valley have dropped by 26.5 percent in may compared to the previous year. According to this post, the median value of a single-family home rose from $600,000 to $650,000. What I can extrapolate from these figures is pure logic, if home sellers are overpricing their homes; it stands to reason that sales will tend to slow down. The article goes on to mention that condominium sales have dropped 37.5 percent. At the same time the average cost of a condominium has also dropped, but only by 2.8 percent. ...
