The Mortgage Bankers Association expects the interest rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage to jump from 6.2 percent to 6.5 percent by the end of the third quarter, as investors lose hope that the Federal Reserve will slash short-term rates any time soon. In a long-term forecast released this week, MBA Chief Economist Doug Duncan predicted existing-home sales will decline by about 7 percent this year compared to 2006, and that sales of new homes will decline by about 8 percent. Temecula Market Report How is the Temecula real estate market. The whole country watches the market here to see trends in housing. Even though sales have slowed down and there is more standing inventory we are not in a bad market. Everything is relative and when you compare the ridiculously hot market of 2 years ago it looks bad but it real is not that bad. We have an average of 6 months worth of inventory in all price ranges and the days on market have doubled since this time last year but house are selling and people are buying. The cooling of the market is actually good for the economy long term. If housing appreciated like that for too long inflation would skyrocket and that is very bad. Not using numbers to lie to your Temecula real estate clientsNumbers can be used to say many thing's both god and bad. When an agent wants to tell a seller what they would like to hear in order to get a listing they often use numbers to tell a tall tale. Comparative Market Analysis' can be manipulated if you add a comp that does not belong or leave one or two out that do belong but lower the value. Honesty is always the best approach. Everyone deserves to get a fair deal on a Temecula home and I would rather approach people in a honest manner and show them the true value of their property even if I do not get the listing.
