The Main Street of America: also known as Route 66 or U.S. Route 66Historic Route 66 has a very interesting and long as well as colorful history. If you are not familiar with it and loved to know more about it, then check out this link to Wikipedia it is a great read (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_66 ).For those who consider it as ’way too much to read’, let me just say it started out in Chicago, Il and the end of the Route is in Santa Monica, CA. The road covers a   total of 2,448 miles and an opportunity to see many wonderful parts of the United States. Some of you might remember there was a TV show in the 1960’s called “Route 66”, others of you who might remember there was a song by Nelson Riddle    “ Get Your Kicks on Route 66” which was also the Theme Song for the TV sho...

Black Mass: a Book Review & then some…..As most of you know before relocating to Los Angeles we lived in Boston, MA. Keep in mind Relocation from Boston to LA is quite a change. The Boston community is a very tight knit place, unlike any other place I ever lived. While LA can be very aloof after all we step over or do not notice thousands of homeless people as an example.I fell in love with the city of Boston, the Back Bay, the South End, Beacon Hill and the Waterfront. These were probably the more upscale areas of the city. I also lived in Alston/Brighton as well as the suburbs of Boston such as Woburn and Wilmington, MA.Having been in Contract Security Management and in Real Estate Sales I got to see different parts of the suburbs of Boston as well as the city and what the communities...

Only in California and especially in Santa Monica Real Estate can you find a house that has been reduced almost $1,000,000 and still cost $3,700,000. In other parts of the country they think the housing prices here are crazy   BUT!!!!!   they live in other parts of the country. Now don't get me wrong I have lived in many cities in the United States and have been to most areas over the course of my life , there are great areas of the country but the California Coast and especially Santa Monica Bay is spectacular   I live very close to this house and it is very unique, steps from the beach, it offers a lifestyle that cannot be beat. You are 1 block to the beach, 3 blocks to Main St and 1/2 mile to Santa Monica's famous 3rd ST Promenade This is a 4 bedroom house with 4 bathrooms and over 2...

My Love Affair with Vintage Typewriters: it is never ending     Vintage Typewriters: I have a love affair with vintage typewriters. It goes back to when I was stationed in West Germany. I was walking in Frankfurt, one of the main cities in Germany, very close to where I was stationed (Aschaffenburg) I came upon a flea market where I saw a few classic typewriters. Hard to believe now there was one for about $50 and I was too “frugal” so I didn’t buy it. Since then I have seen the same style of typewriters anywhere from $100-$400. Needless to say, it is not about the money it is about wanting and having a vintage typewriter.   Then one day Diane and I went to the Santa Monica Airport Museum where my eyes zoomed in on J yes it was the typewriter. Today I have Blackberry phone with a keyboa...

After reading a nice blog roll on Activerain about "pocket listings", it appeared to be loud and clear that without the MLS and its primary function (exposure), the traditional brokerage model would be in big trouble. That seems logical, the MLS is the heart and soul of the industry, it's the way business is done.  The system is well ingrained and the cement is dry.A question this raises is why?  Why can't brokerages go about the business of connecting buyers and sellers without the help of their competitors?Could it be because the broker is void of a broad, strong and scalable value proposition for one party in the deal - the buyers?Sellers, well that's an easy one...exposure and expertise are at the forefront. But what do we sell buyers?  They already know what's on the market, know wh...
