My City of San Luis Obispo was on Oprah! San Luis Obispo, CA was named the Happiest Place in the World to live!  Our little town of San Luis Obispo was on the Oprah Winfrey Show on January 26th, 2011. It has been my home for over 13 years and I wouldn't trade my city in for anything. We were on the Oprah Show on the topic of Happiness. Yes I live here! Author Dan Buettner who wrote Thrive, said that by measuring and experiencing happiness day-to-day he found you could define happiness and pin point locations that had the most overall happiness qualities. He traveled all over the world to find the best places to live in the world and San Luis Obispo made the top four. We were the only US city to make the list. Happiest place in Europe was Denmark, Asia - Singapore and Nuevo Leon - Mexico...

San Luis Obispo, California, is one place to find happy people according to Dan Buetttner in is new book, THRIVE, Finding Happiness the Blue Zone Way.  A Gallup-Heathways poll  ranked San Luis Obispo No. 1 in overall emotional health.  To see complete article contact Parade.com/happy town. The article is titled, "You'll wish you were here .... lessons from Happy Town U. S. A."   Some of the reasons San Luis Obispo ranked so high is access to a variety of arts, number of greenbelts, great biking, walking and hiking trails.  Also there is NO outdoor smoking and drive-throughs are prohibited. I first visited the area in 1996 and fell in love with it.  When I turned a "milestone" age (and I'm not saying which age that was!) I moved here without knowing a soul.  The place has that kind...

Friday night was the turning of another page for me. I have been an agent for almost 5 years now and with each year I find that the business gives me yet another blessing and honor. 2010 has definitely been one of those years as I have had the privilege to serve as a Local Director for the San Luis Obispo Association of Realtors®. It's been a great experience and while I am still serving on my first half of the term I look forward to what will come in 2010.  On Friday night we held our annual End of Year Banquet at the Embassy Suites in SLO and announced and installed our 2011 Board of Directors. The air in the room was light hearted and joyous and all of the agents, brokers, AEs and guests were able to enjoy an evening of humor and set aside the troubles facing our industry. As always ...

San Luis Obispo and Singapore made it to the list as the top four happiest places on earth.  According to ABC's interview with Dan Buettner who researched and published a new book, "Thrive"; Denmark and Nuevo Leon, Mexico also have the highest number of happy residents.  "Thriving is not about just being happy, but involves how one thrives day to day", the author reported. The Danes scored high in job satisfaction.  Apparently, it's not the amount of money one makes.  An annual wage of $75,000 seemed to be the cut-off point on the balance of work and time. Workers in Denmark get to take advantage of a full six-week vacation.  When the full six weeks could not utilized, many smaller shorter vacations are recommended.Back in San Luis Obispo, many little things make the city qualify as one ...

A review of the home sales and sale prices in San Luis Obispo revealed that prices began to decline in 2006, from the median sales price of $615,000 to $455,000 in 2009. During the same period, with the exception of 2007, the number of homes sold also declined every year.    The chart above also illustrates the challenges faced by sellers during this period, in terms of marketing time and net sales prices.Notes:The above data is based on sales of all single-family residences, including mobile homes, condos, stick-built single family homes, etc., in San Luis Obispo, CA for the period from 2005 to 2009.  Data is culled from the Central Coast Multiple Listing Service, and deemed accurate at time of report but not guaranteed.**DOM refers to Days on Market**SP v.
