After providing a Feng Shui Consultation near the Monterey, CA, my fiance and I took a day trip to explore the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was pretty cool!! Some of the top highlights: jellies, wave crush tunnel, sea otters, pacific octopus, tentacles, and kelp forest. Also, just walking along the outside of the aquarium provides some pretty beautiful sights.  The only reason I took the photos you see was to post them on the blog. After that, the phone was put away and I STRONGLY recommend you do the same. The benefits you'll receive from just being present with this experience is wonderful.

About 6 years ago I posted a blog about the community garage sale at Las Palmas Ranch in Salinas and have received at least 100 calls in the past 6 years about it...just received another and decided it is about time to repost it for the upcoming garage sale this year! The semi-annual Las Palmas Ranch Community Garage Sale sponsored by The Las Palmas Ranch Master Association No. 2 will be held on Saturday, October 15 8am - noon. This event is advertised in The Salinas Californian and The Monterey County Herald and no sign-up is required. Just place your unwanted "treasures" on your drive-way. This is a popular event and buyers arrive early at Las Palmas Ranch. This event precedes Waste Management's Fall Clean-Up Week, so most unsold items and extra waste can be left at your curb and remo...

This photo was taken a few years ago and I came across it this morning while organizing my photos! What I like about this one is the dark swirling sky and the light of the rainbow. It's hard to know if this is morning or evening. What do you think?

I go every year...  The Salinas International Air Show, that is of course in Salinas California.  It is kind of North West of Monterey and about 1 hour South of Silicon Valley. We usually get the Navy's Blue Angels, or the Air Force's Thunderbirds (like this year), or the Patriots and sometimes the Canadian SnowBirds. There i always a wide range of things to see and do.  From Monster Trucks, to acrobatic planes of the past and present. If you are ever planning on going next year, I would arrive early and spend the day going through all the planes and exhibits.  Wear sunblock, and don't forget to thank our service men and women for what they do! :) Chris Do you follow me on twitter? @chris_alston How about pintrest? www.pinterest.com/chrisalston Facebook? www.facebook.com/chrisalston

Salinas, CA, which is located in Monterey County was a hard hit area for foreclosure activity. It is bouncing back, and shows a strong and steady improvement, although not as big of an improvement as the greater SF Bay Area-- its neighbor to the North. Salinas,CA - Foreclosure Filings Foreclosure Filings—Notice of Default filings are the first step in the foreclosure process. Notice of Trustee Sale filings set the date and time of an auction, and serve as the homeowner's final notice before sale. Salinas,CA - Foreclosure Outcomes Foreclosure Outcomes—After the filing of a Notice of Trustee Sale, there are only three possible outcomes. First, the sale can be Cancelled for reasons that include a successful loan modification or short sale, a filing error, or a legal requirement to re-file ...

This year's California International Air Show in Salinas will land on September 22 and September 23, 2012.   California International Airshow 2012 Performers  Featuring the USAF Thunderbirds When?  September 22-23 2012 Tickets? http://www.salinasairshow.com/tickets.htm   Where? 37 Mortensen Ave, Salinas CA 93905 (Airport) My son loved it last year.  We hope to see you this year!   I would suggest going online and purchasing your tickets early for this years event.  You can get them at a discount, and do not have to wait in line to buy them at the event.  Also, arrive early so you can walk around and tour the planes and vehicles and get a good seat. If you decide to get general admission, be sure to bring your own camp style chair to save your spot.  All seats are good, as you will be lo...

Yup!  I thought that the wheels on my truck were big...  Then my son and I passed up this moster truck, and the tires were HUGE!  We all know that the trucks are big, but getting up close to the wheels is pretty amazing! So I did not want to pass up the opportunity to have my son climb up into the wheel well and snap this awesome picture! I thought I would take a few steps back so I would be able to remember the size better. We were at the California Air Show in Salinas, CA.  Tons of pics to share, and a great time! -Chris

History and etymology The region was named for San Benancio Gulch which is the small canyon that forms the majority of the region (book ref). A map dated 1834 lists the region as "Canada de San Benancio". The Spanish name most likely refers to one of four Saints venerated with the name Venantius (site 3). The region was settled, originally by Spaniards San Benancio was the inspiration for "Las Pasturas del Cielo" the fictional setting in John Steinbeck's "Pastures of Heaven". A Salinas native, Steinbeck spent time in his youth within San Benancio specifically "Castle Rock" near the base of the Canyon and accurately described the region in "Pastures of Heaven": ". . . he saw-a long valley floored with green pasturage on which a herd of deer browsed. Perfect live oaks in the meadow of the...

Today was the Las Palmas Ranch Spring Egg Hunt! And my girls had so much fun! We were the first to arrive so they could scope out the eggs and candy! We arrived at 12:45pm and by 1pm the full crowd had arrived. The field was laned off by age group. I remember last year they did not do this and the little ones were run over by the older kids and the little kids didn't get much! This year it was sorted by age group and worked great! All the ages were happy :)     She had a nice time! The twins are almost 4!                           As you can see in the background...lots of eggs filled with candy and other goodies! Las Palmas Ranch Homeowner Association was very thoughtful in there "green" efforts..after the hunt was over, all of the kids had to empty there plastic eggs in a large bin to...

http://activerain.com/blogsview/1347678/come-to-las-palmas-ranch-to-live- I am adding a map from the Monterey Peninsula to Las Palmas Ranch. I am asked over and over by buyers that are considering moving to Las Palmas Ranch how far of a commute is to Monterey. As you can see by the map it is just a 15 minute drive..not a commute. Most people drive along highway 68 which connects Monterey to Salinas and is also called the Monterey-Salinas Highway. The altrnate route is to take Highway 1.  Living at Las Palmas is refreshing! There is so much beauty to see along the way. The cows are grazing, the hills are stunning when the light reflects off of them, there are so many kinds of birds..hawks, owls, turkey vultures, you will also see turkeys, foxes, lots of deer..it is a great way to unwind ...
