The Southside Urban Villas were all the rage when they were built 11 years ago. That's because little infill development was happening in Sacramento at that time. Most of the homes you could buy near Southside Park, which borders Land Park going toward downtown, were much older, vintage classics. And then this subdivision of 34 individual free-standing homes popped up.They contain all the bells and whistles of course, for a care-free lifestyle. Granite counters. Cherry cabinets. Charging station for electric car. I would not be surprised if the Mill at Broadway was fashioned after this complex. Favors young Millennial professionals. There is your Sacramento Realtor, hanging out between the A and M in the Sacramento logo for our Farm to Fork Festival. And that thing behind me? Looks like a helicopter, right? Pretty space agey, high-tech.Since my husband works at the state, we have free parking for these events, but we could have walked from Land Park, too. The main thing about the Farm to Fork Festival is timing and the excessively long lines. Sure, the lamb booth when we walked in offered such a tasty menu that people were lined up down the block. I was hungry enough to eat anything that did not involve a long line.We were lucky to find two big sausage booths, across from each other. The one on the south side of Capitol had a long line, but the the sausage booth on the north did not. After grabbing a sausage, a bee...

I worried a little bit when my seller said he planned to leave town and go to a place without cellphone or internet. He described the place of a friend who lives with a dead plant hanging over his kitchen sink for years. This would be bad to get a bunch of offers and not be able to call or email the seller. Also, some of the buyers who appeared to be very interested were not putting pedal to the metal and signing an offer. They dragged their feet. Probably walking the neighborhood, talking to friends and family, trying to decide what to do. While this was going on, of course, the buyer who did not hesitate wrote an offer and bought the house. You can see how this happened in my personal blog today at this link: How Long Did It Take to Sell a Southside Park Bungalow at 411 U Street?

My team and I wandered around the huge number of tables at Memorial Auditorium in downtown Sacramento last night trying to find our table. They had handed us all cards that were printed: table #4, but usually the table is reserved with the name of the Elizabeth Weintraub Team. Last night, not so. And the space at Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento is enormous without chairs, I had no idea. Our office from 28th and J Streets were all seated at the back of the auditorium, near the entrance. You would think that the office where one of the top 3 agents at Lyon Real Estate works would be set up near the agent who wins, just to show support, but they seemed scattered and not in any order at all. We missed not having our office mates nearby. We finally looked at the seating chart outside in the ...

There are a couple of bronze statues and one with acrylic paint over a fiber and steel structure that are Sacramento public art near our convention center. The three art pieces are situated in a park near three other Sacramento landmarks: the  Sacramento Convention Center, Sacramento Community Center and IMAX Theatre. If you play the cellphone game Ingress, you probably notice art more in Sacramento because it brings an awareness, which is one of the benefits of that game. But you don't need a computer game to spot public art in Sacramento. You just need to slow down and stop looking at your cellphone. You can read more in my personal blog today and see all of the photographs at this link: Unique Sacramento Public Art You Walk By and Never Notice.

We are really fortunate in Sacramento that we have so many excellent music venues, and we don't always have to drive to San Francisco to see national acts on tour. Because we just saw Jenny Lewis at the Masonic in San Francisco's Nob Hill, I didn't want to make a second trip to the City, so picking up tickets for the Sacramento Community Center seemed a wiser choice to catch Brian Wilson on tour for the 50th anniversary of Pet Sounds. Who doesn't love the Beach Boys and all of the history that entails? Plus, Pet Sounds was such a breakthrough album, much of which is still remarkable. You can read more and see the photos in my personal blog today at this link: Brian Wilson Pet Sounds Tour Review at Sacramento Community Center.

Like many girls in the early 1960s, I had a colossal crush on Paul McCartney. He was definitely the cutest Beatle. Well, until Davy Jones of The Monkees came along, ha, ha. But Davy Jones is no longer with us and Paul McCartney is not only still kicking, literally, but my God that guy has more energy than the Energizer Bunny. His One on One Tour came to Sacramento as the opening show at our brand new Kings' arena. Not to mention the owner of the Kings, our present mayor and our new mayor visited the row in front of us, hugging people and shaking hands. You can see all of the photographs and read the story at this link: Paul McCartney at Sacramento Golden 1 Center Lives Up to Hype.
