If your elementary age child attends Dapplegray Elementary School in Rolling Hills Estates they are in for a techie treat.  A new computer lab complete with iPads and Kindles will help the school's 650 kindergarten through fifth graders embrace the digital world.  The ribbon cutting ceremony is Sunday 3-5 PM and will be culmination of a six-year capital campaign.  I'm sure the students and staff will give a well-deserved shout-out to the major donors.   This is a wonderful example of the importance of education in the Palos Verdes Peninsula community.  The willingness of parents and residents to contribute to the education of the children is a worthwhile investment and the return immeasurable.  The benefit of early hands-on experience will help these early learners develop and incorpor...

The City Council of Rolling Hills Estates approved the planning application for additions and upgrades to the city owned Peter Weber Equestrian Center. Over $1.7 million in work is currently proposed (funded by grants/propositions) and would finish around October. Per the PVP News article by Mary Scott, the Center "will get a state-of-the-art prefabricated steel barn at the back of the property, a new restroom, and a new covered area for feed, manure and shavings. There will be little to no changes to the existing barn at the front of the property, along Crenshaw Boulevard, and the riding rings, Planning Director David Wahba said." The following is the 4th quarter 2011 Real Estate Market Report for the City of Rolling Hills Estates, including the unincorprated area known as Palos Verdes Peninsula adjacent to the City.   The number of homes for sale has decreased substantially the last 2 months, which is normal for the holiday season, and is down to only 21 homes listed for sale, very close to the 23 listed for sale a year ago. Sales have averaged only 3 per month, the same as a year ago. Our Neighborhood Spotlight Video is a sneak peek into the Rolling Hills Estates Bristol Farms Store Renovation. They even have a new sign! The store has been involved in a major renovation for the past couple of months. It is a tip to bottom renovation with new finishes, fixtures and most importantly a new layout nearing completion. No longer feeling like a maze. I must say this store is a favorite of mine because I can always count on quality, specialty merchandise, in a small package. The other day while buying some groceries and assessing the changes, I ran into a woman looking dazed and concerned. She said "this doesn't look like Bristol Farms anymore".
