I’m Wende Schoof, San Francisco Peninsula Residential Realtor, and I thought it would be interesting to follow the progress of my client developer’s newest project.  Ruben Citores, Menlo CK Developers, purchased this home in the Woodside Plaza neighborhood of Redwood City, CA, and is at the beginning of remodeling and expanding it to put back on the market in the summer.   In the video below, join us as we are walking through the property for the second time and as you can see the work has now been started! For another example of a similar home update, can take a look at Ruben’s most recent completed work at 2618Brewster.com , a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom home in the Mount Carmel neighborhood of Redwood City, CA that just sold for $1,100,000.

Meet Redwood City’s new health club that’s especially convenient for residents of Emerald Hills, Edgewood Park, Farm Hill, Sterling Heights and Woodhill Estates.   As a realtor I know a community’s desirability is often determined by the amenities available to the residents.  The proximity of businesses and services that increase residents’ quality of life has a positive impact on where people choose to live.  This Redwood City gym is a good example of that. I had the opportunity to get a first hand tour of SNAP Fitness with owner Arnell Chatman.  Her fitness center impressed me with its efficient organization, extended hours and cleanliness.  It looks like a great place to work out!   Whether you’re looking for a Redwood City home with a gym or near a gym, I can help!  I also serve al...

Here on the San Francisco Peninsula, Tuesdays are Tour Days, rain or shine, and rain it did today.  Tuesday is the official day of the week for us Realtors to get out and get an up close and personal look at the current inventory of homes. The tour covers all of San Mateo County, a total of 21 cities, and most properties are open for viewing 9:30 - 1:30 pm.   With literally over 200 listings available to see, I usually focus on those that are relevant to my buyer and seller clients and my sphere of influence, and typically preview in my business’s geographic “sweet spot” - Menlo Park, Atherton, Redwood City and San Carlos.  It’s a great way to get a weekly update on market pricing trends and values and provides a good opportunity for networking with other Realtors, promoting my upcomin...

Welcome to Redwood City, California, in the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula, home to some of the highest priced zip codes in the country.  As a veteran, local realtor I have often helped clients who are relocating here work through their sticker shock to find the home that will best suit their needs.  And as a local resident, I know that Redwood City is often the best place to start on the road to home ownership on the San Francisco Peninsula.  With its vivacious downtown, variety of inviting neighborhoods, proximity to San Francisco, San Jose and Half Moon Bay as well as the best climate around, Redwood City also offers some of the most attractive prices.  In short, for many home buyers, Redwood City gives the biggest bang for their buck.  With homes selling between $3,250,000 and...

For Homes on the San Francisco Peninsula Tuesday is tour day in San Mateo County.  The tour is sponsored by 2 realtor boards, San Mateo County Association of Realtors, and SILVAR, Silicon Valley Association of Realtors.  The SAMCAR tour for today, January 18, 2011, included 200 residential listings with substantially less homes for sale than on last week’s tour. In Wende’s Home on the San Francisco Peninsula Select Cities it was much the same story.  In Atherton both homes on tour were newly listed, though both had been previously for sale at higher prices without selling in the previous year and are currently offered at  $2,189,000  and $7,995,000 .  In Menlo Park there were a total of 10 single homes and townhouses/condos, 5 of which were new on the market, though 1 of the 5 had shown...

Redwood City’s Emerald Hills offers many picturesque views of the San Francisco Bay and coastal hills as well as some beautiful landscapes.  Although a snowflake is a true rarity at home on the San Francisco Peninsula with its temperate Mediterranean climate and average temperatures ranging from 58 degrees in the day to 39 degrees over night, this winter landscape rivals those created by the fluffy white stuff - would you agree? Want to know more about homes on the San Francisco Peninsula?   Ask Wende Schoof.

Where’s your Third Place?  Here on the San Francisco Peninsula Rosalind Kutler wants your Third Place to be the library!  No, not 3rd place like the red ribbon in a competition kind of third place.  She means the third place you can regularly go to (at Home being the first place and at Work the second) and “chill” for awhile, like Cheers,  a place “where everybody knows your name”.  Not that they’re setting up a bar in the library!  Rosalind, Adult Services and Programming Librarian for the Redwood City Public Library,  considers the library’s Third Place role to be one of its main functions in the modern world.  And the focus of her work reflects this.  Not only is Rosalind transforming the public image of the library to a place where talking is allowed, she is encouraging library pat...

Wordless Wednesday -- well, almost!   Yesterday morning Gene and I took our early morning hike to start the day as we try to do most Tuesdays. Edgewood County Park, in the hills behind Redwood City CA, is about a 3 minute drive from our house in San Carlos CA. Starting in the dark, at 6:00 AM, with headlamps shining, we hiked up to the top of the hill for some pre-dawn beauty. By 7:15, when we returned to the car, we were happy, relaxed, nicely exercised---and HUNGRY! By 8:00 we were warm, fed, dressed and at our computers, coffee in hand, ready to start the business day. Living in San Mateo County or the Silicon Valley makes morning outings like this possible. If you want to explore whether living here is right for you, give me a call!

Nothing beats a bowl of soup on a cold day in San Mateo County, California Some people might not think we're having a cold spell, but for us it is! As we headed out for a dawn hike at nearby Edgewood County Park yesterday morning, we had to scrape ice off the car windshield. I walked with a skull cap on my head and running gloves on my hands. In the light of my headlamp I could definitely see my breath looking like steam from a steam engine. Rain is predicted for this evening. It's the kind of weather that finds me in the kitchen at some point, making a pot of soup to enjoy over the next day or so. Yesterday I made Lemon Lentil Soup, healthy, delicious, inexpensive and easy -- what could be better? Lemon Lentil Soup Ingredients: cooking spray (like Pam) 1 large onion, chopped 4 stalks o...

Here's a quick look at residential real estate activity in Wende’s 6 select San Mateo County cities – San Carlos, Redwood City, Woodside, Atherton, Menlo Park and Portola Valley - for the week of 12/14-12/21/10. People are still movin' and shakin' (real estate-wise) here on the San Francisco Peninsula, despite the near year end and significant lack of inventory.  There are now a total of only 373 residential properties actively for sale in the 6 cities I track for this report.  That's not a lot to choose from in an area that has a population of around 142,500!  January 2011 should be an amazing month for sellers!  So, if you're thinking of selling next year, right now is the time to have that planning conversation with your realtor me!    Want to know more about the local market in othe...
