OK I confess, I obsess over selecting the perfect gift for my clients.  I envy the agents who give a gift basket or plant and move on.  Me, I begin plotting and planning weeks before I hand them the keys to their new abode.   I recently sold a home in a gated beach colony in Rancho Palos Verdes with its own private beach.     Photo from the balcony               When I saw these chairs I thought, "Ahh, those are perfect, mission accomplished." I just received an email telling me the Palos Verdes Peninsula News is cutting their circulation in half from biweekly to once a week.  Here is the notice:     "Starting November 27, 2008, we will be eliminating our Saturday edition in order to increase our Thursday circulation to 20,000 households, including 6,000 additional households that did not previously receive the PV News every week.  In the past, we have produced two editions – one on Thursday that reached 14,000 households and another on Saturday that reached 4,000 of those same households. By eliminating our Saturday edition, we can expand the circulation of our Thursday edition to reach more new readers every week.  The two special sections that ran in our Saturday edition – Real Estate and Religion – will be included in our...

My husband and I stumbled onto the latest restaurant in the Lunada Bay Plaza the other night.  I can't even remember all of the permutations this restaurant has gone through over the years, but I vaguely remember eating Chinese food there many years ago!  Casa Pronto's Fresh Mexican Grill has one stand out feature:  The salsas.  They put 4 kinds at your table and they are delightfully different and tangy from each other.  The restaurant also serves Horchata just like the food stalls on Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles.  The food is pretty good too.  I would say it is typical Mexican fare in authentic, Tijuana-like surroundings. The front of the menu shows photos of some of the plates for the uninitiated.  (In L.A. WHO could that be?) There are garish pinatas strung from the ceiling...

If you are thinking of buying real estate in the Rancho Palos Verdes, it helps to know what the latest trends are.  First of all, you need some essential real estate tools.  Those would be: Current sales statistics for your area of preference. This will give you a working knowledge of the average market time, differential between asking and selling prices, average prices per sq. ft. , etc. You need to know your FICO score. Anyone who has visited the mind-numbing television channel that broadcasts Rancho Palos Verdes City Council and Rancho Palos Verdes City Planning sessions can attest to the marathon lengths of those meetings.  I personally witnessed one last week at the City Planning meeting at Hesse Park.  I was there to protest the CVS Pharmacy proposal that didn't even come up on the agenda until midnight!  By the time the last speaker finished and the council made their decision, it was 3:30 in the morning!  While I was happy the proposal was defeated, I didn't get home and to sleep until 5 am.  This happens quite frequently at Rancho Palos Verdes city meetings. However, there has been a move to shorten the length of the City Council meetings and it has been successful for the most part.  The City C...

Anyone who lives near Granvia Altamira knows that there have been times when the street was full of catering trucks parked and open for business between Hawthorne and Monero.  This has been problematic because the people who patronize the trucks also have to park on the street on both sides and typically dart in and out of traffic to get to the trucks.  This has created a dangerous scenario for all involved since this portion of Granvia is heavily traveled at all times of the day. Ideally, the catering trucks could gather at the RPV City Hall or other place with ample parking in order to alleviate the problems of congesting neighborhood streets.  The problem has been amplified by new rulings by Palos Verdes Estates that prohibits the trucks from congregating on their city streets.
