Interest rates for buying a home on the Palos Verdes Peninsula decreased slightly this week.The following are excerpts from the newsletter on interest rates published by HSH Associates :   "The summer of stability for mortgage rates continued this week, with few signs that the flat pattern which has persisted for months will change significantly anytime soon.   The nation's rising economic output has encouraged the Federal Reserve to slowly end their program of Quantitative Easing, where they have accumulated trillions of dollars of Treasuries and Mortgage-Backed Securities.  Palos Verdes Home Sales Malaga Cove Neighborhood First Half of 2014 Palos Verdes homes sales for the Malaga Cove neighborhood for the first half of 2014 increased to 13 single family homes sold in 2014 compared to 9 in 2013.  Price per square foot for Malaga Cove houses that sold in the first half of 2014 increased to $755 from $660 in 2013, a 14.3% increase.  Average sales price for Malaga Cove homes sold in the first half of 2014 increased to $2,275,269 in 2014 compared to $2,255,556 in 2013.  The most expensive Palos Verdes home sale in the Malaga Cove neighborhood was $3,300,000 and the lowest priced Palos Verdes home sale in the Malaga Cove neighborhood was $1,306,500. Palos Verdes Home Sales Monte Malaga Neighborhood First Half of 2014 Palos Verdes homes sales for the Monte Malaga neighborhood for the first half of 2014 decreased to 9 single family homes sold in 2014 compared to 15 in 2013.  Price per square foot for Monte Malaga houses that sold in the first half of 2014 increased to $639 from $627 in 2013, a 1.9% increase.  Average sales price for Monte Malaga homes sold in the first half of 2014 increased to $2,562,111`in 2014 compared to $2,163,100 in 2013.  The most expensive Palos Verdes home sale in the Monte Malaga neighborhood was $5,750,000 and the lowest priced Palos Verdes home sale in the Monte Malaga neighborhood was $1,234,000. The Palos Verdes Estates real estate market continues to be relatively strong. The number of homes listed for sale in the City of Palos Verdes Estates increased substantially from January thru June after falling to very low levels at the end of  2013 . The number of homes listed for sale at the end of June has increased significatly to 63 homes for sale.The average number of homes sold per month during the second quarter 2014 decreased 7% compared to last year's 2nd quarter, averaging 13 sales per month.
