During my last day in Palm Springs, I walked around and looked at the beauty of the desert. To many people, it looks like rocks, to me, it's magical. And hidden amongst the rocks and under the cacti, are critters that blend in. I had walked by this certain spot several times, and never noticed him until I looked back and saw him move. Am not sure what he is, maybe someone out there can help me identify him? It looks like a baby, but what do I know. According to the walls of the Palm Springs Tennis Club, pretty much everyone who was anyone in the movie business came here in the "Mid Century". Framed photos are everywhere when you stroll through the lobby of this wonderful hotel that is snuggled up to the San Jacinto Mountains at 701 W. Baristo Road in Palm Springs. Tonight was the annual Holiday "Walking Tour of the Inns" in the legendary Tennis Club district.   Hundreds of people come every year to walk from one small hotel to the next to look at Christmas decorations inside the inns. Most inns dispense goodies to the crowd including cider, hot chocolate and a great variety of cookies. You would think that there would be a lot to write about here in Palm Springs, but all I see are the glorious colors of the gardens and the mountain. So here goes one more time. Some photos that I took the last couple of days. These were all taken at the little 5-unit inn I'm staying at, the Arenas Gardens Hotel in Palm Springs in the Tennis club district. Tomorrow? Although it is very cold in Palm Springs, California right now, gardens are in full bloom and citrus trees are laden with fruit. It's a joy to walk around, then go and sit somewhere for some hot coffee or tea, maybe a glass of wine, beside a gas heater that seem so prevalent now in outdoor cafes. Yes, these little heaters are a new phenomena everywhere I seem to go in California. And I'm all for it! After a beautiful drive yesterday that started on a chilly pre-dawn morning in Carmel-by-the-Sea, I arrived in Palm Springs just after Noon at the Arenas Gardens Hotel where I will be staying for a few days. Don't congratulate me yet, there is business involved, still it is a beautiful place to be. Here is a photo that I took this morning of my charming little cottage where Steve and Kass, my hosts here at the 5 unit hotel, have placed me. It's located in the "Tennis Club" district, where movie stars of yesterday cavorted in days of old. The Arenas Gardens Hotel was actually owned by Gloria Swanson.
