It is always a very exciting weekend in Palm Springs when thousands of participants in the 18th Annual Tour De Palm Springs visit our lovely Coachella Valley. There will be some events that start on Friday for this bicycle road rides and fundraiser while the first race (The 100 mile Escape the City Lights Ride) begins on Saturday at 6:30 a.m. which will be followed by shorter races including a 50, 25, and 10 mile ride along with a 1.5 mile walk. California is in a severe drought..so why am I blogging about a NEW golf course?  My low desert Valley area of Palm Springs to La Quinta sports approx. 123 golf courses!  What?  That is correct, and only 30-40% use reclaimed water.  So Why ANOTHER course?  This is a double edged problem. The new course at Hawks Landing in Yucca Valley has actually been there for quite some time, but only just re-opened 2 weeks ago.  It's heading to the new strategy of Desert Scape on surrounding areas other than the Fairway, and only two 6 hole koops.  Idea being, to use less water of course, and also to allow new players to NOT have to spend so many hours playing!  They can choose to shoot 6 holes and stop, 12 holes and stop, or 18 holes and stop.  Much more user friendly. Through January 12th and then the 21st Annual Palm Springs International ShortFest Jun 6- 22.  If you love the arts, acting and truly enjoying some of the best theater on the planet, then these film festivals are your thing. The International Film Festival is going on now through January 12th.  It opened January 2 with Ava DuVernay's  Golden Globe nominated Selma.  This civil rights drama recounts a three-month period in 1965 when Dr. King led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights for African-Americans. With 15 years as a Realtor here in the beautiful Palm Springs Valley, I have seen several cycles in the real estate world.  We appear to have pretty much wrapped up our Short Sale frenzy, and I am closing my last short sale listing of 2014.  Foreclosures are few and far between, and are not priced a heck of a lot below Fair Market Value anymore.
