As a dentist in Santa Clarita, I can tell you that Halloween always brings me new patients. It's my goal to minimize the negative effect of candy to my patient's teeth. It isn't just the kids that suffer each year with this. Any type of sticky, gooey food that is left on the teeth for even a few hours will cause problems down the road. It seems like Halloween brings out the kid in all of us. We bit into candy apples, hard candy, and even eat peanut brittle and taffy. All of this is very hard on the teeth, and as a result I see cracked, chipped, and broken teeth more often after Halloween than at any other time of the year.
