Malibu, CA Real Estate News

What Real Estate Agents do Movie Stars use to purchase homes in Los Angeles?  I have always wondered when Movie Stars purchase homes in Southern California, where do they find Real Estate agents? Are there special agents for the Stars in LA? Or do the Stars use an Attorney when purchasing, and when they sell who sells their homes?    I think it would be great to work with Movie Stars when their purchasing or selling, and if it's their managers that would be alright too!  If I was to work with any Movie Stars in the Real Estate arena and found them to be rude, etc. I wouldn't care one bit, bring it on Halle you can push me around and cal me all the nasty names you want!  And you will still be one of the most beautiful women in the world!  For any Movie Stars surfing the web, if you come...

Over the last few weeks, I have met quite a few people who are new to LA and are trying the city on for size as they pursue their dream careers! LA is definitely a great place to try new things, experiences, and ways of life! With that being said, not everyone is ready to make a long term commitment with a year lease. Whether you are out here for a short term project or just testing the waters to see if this is the right place for you to be, I can hook you up with a variety of short term housing options to meet your needs. Typically short term rentals are priced higher than those that require a year lease, as it can be tedious for landlords to find new tenants every few months. For all you rich kids needing summer beach rentals, now is the time to start securing your leases for Malibu b...

The Malibu Real Estate blog first brought this house to your attention a few ago and touted it a great buy on Point Dume. It's now being elevated to a "Smoking Deal" after it received a price reduction to $2,090,000. Read the original write up below. A new home has hit the Point Dume Real Estate market and it's listed at a great price. The home, located on the corner of Wildlife and Fernhill, is close to the private beaches that the Point Dume community enjoys. The home is listed at $2,190,000 and includes a large lot of over .5 acre. It's what we commonly call an original Point Dume "ranch house" typical of building in the late 50's and is in very clean condition. Call for a showing. This one won't last long. 310 699 8428 The home is listed with Matt Ogden of Pritchett-Rapf

Update! Unit went in to multiple offers right away. Beach Key and Whitewater views are hard to resist at that price! I will publish the final closing price when it comes out. Be ready to pounce on the next great deal! A new listing has hit the Malibu Real Estate condo market this week and if it closes at anything near its asking price, other sellers may need to rethink their asking price. The 2 bedroom condo on Heathercliff was originally purchased in 2006 for $850,000 and has been listed this week for $427,900. Yes, almost a half-off sale and likely to upset many nearby condo owners when it becomes a comp. I showed the property this morning. It was surprisingly clean and had white water views of Zuma beach. Good enough views that your surfing buddies will be calling to get the early mo...

This is the biggest price drop I've seen in the Malibu Real Estate market, ever. Starting out $39,500,000, this ocean front property has been chopped to $21,500,000 in 4 short months. That's an $18,000,000 chop in 120 days! The home is located just south of the Paradise Cove pier and was recently remodeled. Here's the MLS description...... ow can two Malibu beach houses, similar in size, beach frontage, and condition, located on the same road , AND just a few lots away from each other be priced $5,ooo,ooo or more apart? Answer: Beach Depth. Take the example below in the photo showing the Malibu Colony. There is one section "within the gates" and one section "outside the gated" on Malibu Road. Notice the houses on the beach in the Colony that have wooden sea walls with stairs leading down to the sand. At high tide there will be no dry sand and a few waves might even bounce of the wall. Now take a look at the section where there is 20-60 feet of depth to it with dry sand. In this photo you can see where the last high tide came up to and how the residents of this section still had a dry sand beach to enjoy. That's the big di...

As If you are driving on the Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica heading north the first prominent Landmark you see is this great Villa on a high promontory. Oil magnate J. Paul Getty had his ranch house on this bluff overlooking the Pacific. This Malibu Villa was modeled after Villa dei Papiri in Italy.  If you are visiting Southern California and are heading out to Malibu to see the beautiful coast, I suggest you take time out from site seeing and drop in to the Getty Villa. If you are a local resident and have not been there due to the "remodeling" you have no excuse. They finished it two years ago. The Villa is perched on top of a hill, so if you came to see Malibu what better place, then from the Villa. If one of the richest men who ever lived felt this was a great place to bui...

Easiest way to instantly increase the value of home?  Apparently, all you need to do is have an A List celeb move in!  Now I know that Brad Pitt has his hands full with SIX kids, so he probably doesn't have a lot of time on his hands to watch TV or read the news.  So I guess it IS possible that he totally missed what has been going on with CA housing prices in the last couple of years.  Actually, Zillow's real estate market reports show that Malibu, where Pitt lived, is indeed posting increases in home prices. The Zillow Home Index from Q1 2009 over Q4 2008 showed an increase of 9.3% and Q1 2009 over Q1 2008 increased 3.4%.  What does this mean for Pitt's home?  He bought the home in 2005 for 8 million.  He just put it on the market for 18 million!!!  10 million appreciation??  I guess ...
