Malibu and Pepperdine University remember September 11, 2001Since September 11, 2001 every year Pepperdine University has been commemorating the victims of this horrific event. The flags represent those who were killed and what nationality they were. Yes indeed the majority of the victims were Americans. As you look at this sea of flags you will notice Brazilian, Israeli, French to name a few. All forever united in death.Diane and I always try to take a trip when time permits to drive by this great memorial and pay our respects. Not every year is it possible, today we chose to do it since it was the 15th anniversary of this horrific event.I have written a post yesterday, but I wanted to share with you what one School and one Community does on this sad day. Maybe this will inspire other ...

It is always interesting to see when clients compare different areas. Recently I have been asked by a client to compare the statistics of Beverly Hills vs. the Pacific Palisades numbers. I tried to suggest that the Malibu community would be also a nice place to live if the Palisades does not have the right type of home.Needless to say this client wanted facts. So with that said we started to look at the numbers. Well see for your self:Clearly the inventory is more abundant in Malibu. The price ranges vary a great deal too!We had to eliminate land, condominiums from the mix because the numbers were skewed. Hence we only looked at Single Family Residences:Clearly as you can see these numbers were very interesting and similar. Now if you are considering relocating to Los Angeles and live i...

In my  recent experience I have noticed that buyers who are looking for homes in Beverly Hills also ask about the Malibu, CA real estate market. This is very easy to understand since most people who are buying into the 90210 zip code can buy anywhere, so they are also interested in Malibu,  CA because of the Pacific Ocean being their back yard is a nice thing to have.Keeping in mind the greater Los Angeles has more Billionaire than most people realize, so Malibu, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades the homes are just out of reach for most people. Now with that said let's look at the Malibu Real Estate Market.   As you can see the invetory is not as good as it was in 2014 but not too bad for our current market. The days on market has increased a bit, part of it is people are on...

Malibu, CA the coveted zip code of 90265 conjures up the super affluent. The playground of the Rich and Famous and sometimes the infamous. People from all over the world look and dream about wanting to live in Malibu, CA.Needless to say if you look at the picture above I am sure I do not need to do much convincing. Interestingly enough the price point is perceived by many that only only a few can afford it. So with that said I decided to look at these numbers. Amazingly I was surprised how affordable it really is to buy in Malibu, CA in the 90265 zip code relatively speaking as I compared it to the 90069 zip code and I found Malibu to be less expensive. Well see for yourself and look for my Market Report about the 90069 zip code and you will agree with me.  In the mean time if you are l...

I have written a few Market Reports and compared to some this is truly an eye opener. Well it was to me anyway. Let me know your thoughts.  Needless to say when I see nubers like this it tells me that the Malibu Single Family Market is on Fire!! Needless to say the explanation is easy. Malibu has been a destination place for the affluent for many years. The Global Who is Who have been buying up Malibu homes for years. Now that the Market has changed for the Positive the local and national affluent have stepped into the Malibu Single Family Market too. The Median Days on Market is hard to comprehend for many of you in other parts of the United States. Especially if I add in there what the average price of the homes are.Now with that said check out these numbers: If you are interested in ...

As you know, I'm a member of Malibu Search and Rescue.  Today at 1430 we were paged out for a vehicle over the side on Decker Canyon in the beautiful city of Malibu.  When I arrived there were two sections of vehicles to check.  The first section had SIX vehicles and the second section had three.  All had been down there for some time and there were no victims.  A very good call were I got to use some tools I hadn't used before, an array of rollers to act as edge protection and to help with rope guidance.  Below are some pictures, all taken with my new #Nexus6P phone on the Google #ProjectFi network, which was dubbed the "Awesome Phone" by one of the patrol Deputies we worked with because it got reception in a zone where most carriers don't!Two of our team one looking over the side at o...

It has been virtually two years since I last wrote about Bank of Books in Malibu, CA see enclosed link (http://actvra.in/XQQ ) that is a life time for a book seller especially an independent bookseller. Exploring California: Country Kitchen in Malibu Looking for a fast, tasty and affordable breakfast, lunch or dinner? Along the Pacific Crest Highway (PCH) in California you will come across not too many eateries and those you do some are pretty pricey. Personally, I am a fan or little mom and pop joints. Driving along the highway we stopped off at Country Kitchen, which was amazing! We enjoyed a "California Burger" with sweet potato fries. This burger is perfect to share, that is how large the serving is. Cost? It was about $7 and change for the burger and $3 for the fries. At other locations along the highway you could pay almost $19 for a simple meal.   Location: 21239 Pacific Coast HwyNumber: (310) 456-8708http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-country-kitchen-malibu

The Malibu Single Family Under Contract Properties have seen a huge increase! Posted on Jan 23, 2015 by Endre Barath in Malibu |  The Malibu Single Family Under Contract Properties have seen a huge increase! The Malibu Single Family Residential market is moving along just fine, in spite of what you hear on the news or what is taking place throughout the rest of the United States there is a comfortable Real Estate Activity. As most of you who read my blog posts, know I just wrote about the time on the market has been shortening for Single Family Residence in Malibu. So I thought it would be appropriate to see how the under contract Properties are doing. In my opinion that is the true tell tale of what the market will be like in the next 45-90 days. Not surprisingly there has been a 100%...

The Malibu SFR (Single Family Residence) Average Days on Market has dropped 12% Posted on Jan 22, 2015 by Endre Barath in Malibu The Malibu SFR (Single Family Residence) Average Days on Market has dropped 12% Malibu California has a lot to offer, there are quite a few Billionaires who call Malibu their home. Carbon Beach has been nicknamed Billionaire’s Beach. Anyway you get the idea. In spite of this phenomenon, there are still reasonably priced homes that you can find on the Beach Side as well as the Land Side of the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Malibu has a lot to offer including 21 miles of scenic beaches. There was a time when the more expensive homes were the ones that were closer to Los Angeles i.e.: Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades. This is slowly changing as the new buye...

El Matador State Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Malibu! Address: 32215 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu CA **   Hours: 8 a.m. to sunset Parking: A fee parking lot is open 8 a.m. to sunset. Fee is $8.00. Do pay. Tickets can be very pricey and park rangers do check.  A parking lot is small, so it can be a challenge during weekends and holidays to score a spot.   Good to know: be prepared for a long hike down the beach and back up to the parking. Can be challenging with little kids, senior citizens, or if you walk in hills( El Matador is very popular spot for photo-shoots). Do bring some snacks and water with you. Bathrooms are.....near the parking lot only.   Best time to visit: Sunset! The beautiful rock formations and caves are breathtaking and photo worthy.   If you are loo...
