  Electricity Can Seem Simple To Do It Yourself, Know What You Are Doing!   I am in favor of “do it yourself” projects. It can bring a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction in a job well done. But when it comes to working with electricity, you really need to know what you are doing. Just because the power is working doesn’t mean it is safe. We came across this makeshift closet light that was added by an apartment tenant. The wire for power was drilled through the back of an existing wall plug, tacked to the closet walls to a light above the door. The light was working but it really wasn’t done right. Calling a contractor probably would have been a better idea in this case.

  Are your iron handrails safe? Check the base.        The safety of an iron hand rail on a stairway may be found in looking at the base of the railing. While the iron may have missing or broken pieces at other locations, but the base is very common source of failure. On a stairway, check to see if there is damage to the concrete steps; this may be a sign of a future problem.

    Early signs of wood railing rot in Lincoln, CA       There were early signs of wood rot in Lincoln, CA a while back and now the rot has spread much larger in area. Many times the first signs of water damage can be seen on the top cap board on the railing to a deck. This horizontal surface can catch and hold moisture creating an opportunity for wood rot to begin. Wondering where to eat near Verdera?   We've lived in Lincoln for about 6 years now, about 5 in Verdera and 1 in Sun City and have found some great places. Verdera is a wonderful luxury community in the foothills of Lincoln.    The views are spactacular and the Catta Verdera country club is a real treat.   If you're wondering where to eat, you're in luck.  There are a growing number of restaurants with great food and good service.  The Catta Verdera Country Club is a great place to start.
