When I was growing up and dreaming about owning my own home I always wanted to have one that had a white picket fence.  It symbolized Americana for me, the proud homeowner living in the traditional neighborhood with charming front porches, friendly neighbors, dogs barking and children playing on front lawns.  White picket fences are said to have been around since the earliest colonial era when land boundaries were delineated by them and gardens were protected by their enclosures.  Styled with a short, tapered or pointed top on evenly spaced vertical boards (pickets) they are now made, not only from wood, but also aluminum and plastic. This morning while walking through my La Jolla Shores neighborhood, I thought about my dreams long ago and found others who might have had the same dream ...

Tonight my daughter came home with a "Charger" burrito from arguably, La Jolla's favorite Mexican restaurant... "Mr. Taco"!  She is a football fan and when she saw that a burrito was named after her favorite football team, she couldn't resist ordering it.  A burrito with the works! Served 'wet style' with your choice of meat, she ordered chicken with rice & beans, it's topped with enchilada sauce, lettuce, and sour cream.  She should be able to get two meals worth of food out of this burrito for about five dollars!  I wish my camera had been available but she ate half of it before I could even take a picture.  Actually the Charger Burrito could feed most of the team... and it is THAT good!   Mr. Taco is located at 7918 Ivanhoe (between Cave & Wall Streets) and is open for breakfast, lun...

Two Condemned Homes in La Jolla (edit/delete) I only got one taker on this one....anyone venture to guess? I was out taking video yesterday with my cell phone (yes cell phone) and I took pictures of the structures that were located directly across the street. These are two single detached homes located on one of the most expensive land in La Jolla. I would like for you to guess why these homes are in this condition right next to multi-million dollar property across from La Jolla Cove. It is a pretty interesting story and these stick out like a sore thumb!

Has anyone tried this Yoga before? I about died when I tried it! The concept is great, but I have to say I was not feeling very good during the class and I did give it about 5 different workout sessions. My girlfriend swearers by this Bikram Yoga and has the figure to show that it works! The one in La Jolla has been open for a few years now and is offering a bunch of great packages now for people getting ready for summer....it will feel like summer in Texas (August is the worst)!

La Jolla Shores Market is our neighborhood market and provides fresh produce, wide selection of meats and poultry, liquor & wines and other grocery items for the residents of La Jolla Shores.  The market has been there as long as I can remember and is a full service market.  The market has a great meat counter and for the BEST roasted chickens stop by in the early afternoon and pick yours up before they sell out!   The market is open from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm daily and is located three blocks from the beach just off of La Jolla Shores Drive at 2259 Avenida de la Playa.

I am sending part 2 of my video of La Jolla Cove taken yesterday! This is one of my favorite areas in La Jolla, CA. located right in the heart of La Jolla Village. It is almost summer here and it is a blast being here in the summer! I'm not sure if the voice added sounded so good, but the video was short and sweet. I want to learn how to add music and a better looking post with my video. Coming Soon!

Video I took at La Jolla Cove in La Jolla, CA. This is the area where the divers and the swimmers enter the beach via the stairs over to the left. I love the tranquile sounds of nature and the sound of the ocean! It was a beautiful day yesterday and I am testing my video camera on my cell phone! I found U Tube to be my new best friend:)

The La Jolla real estate market is one of the most expensive in San Diego County. A visit to La Jolla on-line, or better yet in real life, will quickly give you a good sense of why this is so. La Jolla, "The Jewel," is an extraordinarily beautiful coastal community with many homes offering fabulous views of the ocean from the hills, and a trendy, very up-scale village offering the finest in shopping and dining. La Jolla has often been compared to the French and Italian Rivieras with wonderful ocean and coastline vistas from the hills, amazing homes, beautiful architecture, and a terrific year-round climate, attracting visitors from around the world. I love bougainvillea!  Having lived in the tropics, I became accustomed to seeing it everywhere, in gardens, along the side of fences and growing wild in the tropical areas of Mexico and Costa Rica.   Wikipedia claims that there are over 300 varieties of bougainvillea around the world, with colors ranging from white, pink, orange, purple to burgundy.  While taking my morning walk to La Jolla Shores I took pictures of several of the colorful bougainvillea that I discovered along the way.   Today I even learned there is one named "Bougainvillea La Jolla"!

I am a patriot.  My parents were both in the military, my father retired as a Colonel in the Air Force, my uncle was a Colonel in the Marine Corps, my brother was in the Air Force and my nephew in the Navy.  I come from a long line of ancestors in the American military.  I am proud of my country and my flag.  This morning on my walk around La Jolla Shores, I found others who are also proud of their country and proud to display our flag.  I believe there are homeowners throughout our communities who proudly display the American flag every day in support of our country and the men & women who serve in the military.  Someone once told me of a community in Iowa where flags are displayed everywhere... hanging from every utility pole, street corner, home porch and store.  Truly a "Community o...

Did you know that there are more than 50 species of birds that nest in birdhouses?  It is said that birds have different physical and behavioral needs thus there is not one type of birdhouse that would be suitable to all.  The types of birds that will nest on a property are largely determined by these factors.  Thanks to the owner of this beautiful La Jolla Shores tree, the birds in this neighborhood have a variety of "homes" to choose from!
